The Cheelit system was a star system in the Semagi sector of the Mid Rim Territories that fell within grid square I-16 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It contained Cheelit, an astronomical object that was home to the parasitic brain crawler worm.[2]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Cheelit system was mentioned in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[3] The system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in "Dark Lord's Conscience," a comic strip written by Alan Moore, illustrated by John Stokes, and first published in The Empire Strikes Back Monthly 155 in April 1982.[4] The system was then identified for the first time in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Fry and Daniel Wallace.[5]
