Biography
Training on Starlight
- "How can we be both afraid and brave?"
- ―Bree to Yoda
Sometime around 232 BBY,[5] the Jedi younglings Bree, Jon, and Toko were training together in the Jedi temple on Starlight Beacon. During a particular exercise, the training droid 8D-8D shared with the three younglings the possible adventures they may experience as Jedi Knights. However, the younglings quickly became afraid rather than excited. When Jedi Master Yoda became aware of their concerns, he aimed to teach them a valuable lesson on bravery with the help of of the Wookiee Padawan, Burryaga Agaburry. After hearing Agaburry's earliest memory of overcoming fear, the three younglings accompanied Yoda and Agaburry aboard a Longbeam cruiser to learn this lesson firsthand.
Bree meditating on Elphrona
After traveling to the planets Geonosis and Mon Cala, the Longbeam landed on Elphrona. While on the planet, Bree shared with Master Yoda that she feared being alone. Yoda shared that no one is truly ever alone and encouraged Bree to venture away from the Longbeam to meditate in solitude on the planet's surface. While meditating, Bree realized that her active imagination could give her strength and company when she was alone, realizing that she did not need to feel lonely at all.
After all three younglings had learned a personal lesson on fear and bravery, Yoda brought them to Utapau to learn one last lesson before returning to Starlight Beacon. Here in the darkness of the planet's vast caves, Yoda taught them that Jedi carry the light with them at all times. The three younglings used this philosophy to guide them through the caves and back to their Longbeam. After returning to Starlight Beacon, the younglings could rely on their new lessons when they experienced moments of fear.[2]
The Guardian Protocols
Bree, Toko, and Jon training
After the destruction of Starlight Beacon in 230 BBY,[5] the Jedi High Council called for all Jedi to return to Coruscant for their safety.[6] Bree was present in the Galactic Senate Chamber when members of the Jedi High Council announced the reimplementation of the Guardian Protocols. Bree shared with Jon and Toko her uncertainty over the announcement that Jedi younglings would begin to use real lightsabers instead of training lightsabers. However, in the weeks and months after the announcement, Bree commenced her lightsaber training in earnest.[4]
Bree was sent to deliver a message to Yoda who was under the temple fighting a Blight infection. She felt scared but continued descending the stairs until she reached the bottom. She ran into Eve Byre and Stalwick who joined the group of Jedi holding back the Blight so Yoda could leave. Bree helped him as he walked away from the Blight and accompanied him back to the upper levels of the temple.[3]

Notes and references
- ↑ The first four chapters of The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi are set between the events of The High Republic: Tears of the Nameless and the Battle of Eriadu, which both take place in 228 BBY per the reasoning here. As the first chapter indicates that Bree is nine years old during its events, she must have been born around 237 BBY.
