Bamayar IX was a gas giant formed of emerald- and turquoise-colored gas clouds. Between 7 BBY and around 5 BBY, the trainee pilot Bodhi Rook skillfully flew a Nu-class transport through the clouds of Bamayar IX with a number of his classmates in the Galactic Empire's Terrabe Sector Service Academy aboard. When escaping the Death Star superweapon's blast on the moon Jedha in 1 BBY, Rook vividly imagined his flight through Bamayar IX when watching the storm of the blast's shockwave.
Description
Bamayar IX was a gas giant located in the ninth orbital position[2] of the Mid Rim Territories' Bamayar system,[1] alongside the planet Bamayar.[3] It was situated in the Maldrood sector at the coordinates R-7 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The world made up of titanic emerald- and turquoise-colored gas clouds that were frequently ignited by lightning storms.[2]
History
Bodhi Rook (pictured) flew through the clouds of Bamayar IX during his academy days.
Between 7 BBY and around 5 BBY,[4] Bodhi Rook, a pilot-in-training at the Galactic Empire's Terrabe Sector Service Academy, flew an old Nu-class transport, which was in a poor state for flight, through the clouds of Bamayar IX[3] with a number of his classmates as passengers.[2] Rook perfectly controlled the transport,[3] which bounced and twirled between the clouds and lightning,[2] and earned the respect of his classmates,[3] who cheered him on.[2]
In 1 BBY,[5] Rook, who had since defected from the Empire, escaped the moon of Jedha on a Rebel Alliance UT-60D U-wing transport after the Death Star superweapon fired upon Jedha's Holy City. Witnessing the colossal dust and rock storm caused by the shockwave of the Death Star's blast, Rook, aboard the U-wing, vividly imagined his time flying through Bamayar IX.[2]

- ↑ The Star Wars Encyclopedia issue "The Heroes of Rogue One" establishes that Bodhi Rook flew through Bamayar IX during his time in the Terrabe Sector Service Academy. The issue also states that Rook entered the academy in 7 BBY and spent twenty-four months there. Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know establishes that a standard year was 365 days long, while the sixty-first issue of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon sets the length of a standard month at thirty-five days, with twenty-four months therefore being approximately 2.3 standard years. Therefore, Rook's time in the academy, including his flight through Bamayar IX, took place between 7 BBY and around 5 BBY.
