- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi upon seeing a Nu-class transport
The Nu-class attack/transport shuttle, also known as the Nu-class attack shuttle or Republic attack shuttle, was a model of shuttle used by the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars.[6] In the aftermath of the war, the Nu-class shuttles were absorbed into the fledgling Imperial Navy.[10] It was the predecessor of the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle.[4] One transport fell into the hands of the Free Ryloth Movement, and was used during the Mission to Ryloth.[9]
Characteristics
Designed with fold-down wings, it was similar in design to later shuttles like the Theta-class, Lambda-class, and Sentinel-class. Its boarding hatch was at the very front of the shuttle, unlike later variants, which had the cockpit jutting over the hatch. The pilots' chairs lowered into the boarding area for them to enter and exit the cockpit. It also had a magnetic clamp on its ventral side capable of attaching to smaller payloads such as escape pods.[11] The Rho-class transport shuttle[12] was visually very similar in appearance to the Nu-class, but had an elongated hull, dorsal fin and the capability to attach cargo pods to its underside.[13]

It was primarily used by the Grand Army of the Republic for missions which required them to operate far away from bases and capital ships. Unlike the Republic's LAAT/i gunship, the Nu-class was also equipped with seats for the passengers due to much longer travel times.[14]
Transports used by the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars had red and yellow markings.[6] In the aftermath of the Clone Wars, Nu-class shuttles were painted in a uniform, grey coloring as the Galactic Republic transitioned into the Galactic Empire.[15]

Imperial Era
Following the end of the war, Nu-class attack/transport shuttles became part of the Imperial Navy and were colored the typical grey of the Imperial Military.[7]
One was used by Admiral Tarkin to visit Tipoca City on Kamino during his discussion with Prime Minister Lama Su in the Empire switching over to conscripted soldiers as a more cost effective alternative to the clones.[17] Another was used by Crosshair and the Elite Squad, consisting of ES-01, ES-02, ES-03, and ES-04 as part of the clandestine Project War-Mantle headed by Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart during their mission to Onderon to succeed where Clone Force 99 failed in eliminating Saw Gerrera's proto Partisans. The mission was a success even when losing ES-01, who protested the orders of shooting innocent civilians, though Gerrera had already left the world to gain new allies for the Partisans prior the squad arriving.[18] 3 Nu-class attack/transport shuttles were later used by Crosshair and his Elite Squad in a mission to Bracca to eliminate the former's old squad after scrappers identified them, one of which was ordered by Crosshair to find the Marauder while the other two converged on the abandoned Venator[10]
