Arbooine was an Outer Rim Territories celestial body located in the Arboo sector. It was home to the venomous arboreal forest predator known as the bearsloth, which posed a danger to any visitors to Arbooine. Nevertheless, the creatures and their venom led to several individuals traveling to the celestial body.
Description
Arbooine was a terrestrial celestial body[2] located in the Arbooine system, a part of the Arboo sector in the freestanding subsectors portion of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] The bearsloth, a large, venomous arboreal forest ambush predator, was one of Arbooine's most dangerous carnivorous creatures. Bearsloths posed a constant hazard to anyone visiting Arbooine, and the local Sathari hunters used their venom in their bladed diiro weapons.[2]
History
Arbooine was the homeworld of the bearsloth.
A local arms dealer at some point traded in Arbooine's bearsloth venom and recruited a group of individuals to retrieve some to sell to an eager client. In another instance, a crime lord captured several bearsloths and placed them in the forests surrounding their manor, where they acted as both guards and executioners.[2]
At another point, the individual known as Savas the Dreaded sold glitterstim spice on Arbooine and in turn obtained an amount of bearsloth venom that he sold to the Hutt crime lord Mahon. A group of bounty hunters subsequently learned of Savas' actions on Arbooine and, in order to track him down, attempted to find a way to travel to the celestial body.[3]
Behind the scenes
Arbooine was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in No Disintegrations, a 2017 sourcebook published by Fantasy Flight Games for use with the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game system. In that book[3] and in the 2019 Fantasy Flight Games' roleplaying sourcebook Allies and Adversaries,[2] the celestial body is respectively mentioned in a pair of adventure seeds[3] and a hypothetical gameplay example. This article assumes all three of those scenarios play out as described.[2]
Arbooine as depicted in the Star Wars Legends continuity
The planet[4] Arbooine was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in[5] the February 23, 2015[6] Edge of the Empire sourcebook Fly Casual.[5] In Legends, Arbooine then went on to make its first full appearance in Chronicles of the Gatekeeper,[4] an adventure published on November 5 of the same year[7] for use with Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game system.[4] Prior to the adventure's publication, the planet was first pictured in an article previewing the product that was published on August 18, 2015 on Fantasy Flight Games' official website.[8] In Chronicles of the Gatekeeper, Arbooine was depicted in several illustrations, including ones by[4] Tiffany Turrill[4][9][10] and Ben Zweifel.[4][11][12]
