- "Yes, sir. Closest principal planets are Thustra and Aquaris."
- ―A comms officer informs Moff Tarkin of the planets closest to the Carrion Spike's location
Aquaris was a oceanic planet[3] located in the Aquaris system in the Sumitra sector of the Expansion Region.[1] It and Thustra were the closest principal planets to the location of the stolen Imperial corvette Carrion Spike while it was at the location designated as LCC-4-4-7.[2] Aquaris had a notable criminal presence, and was located near the Perlemian Trade Route. The former pirate Queen Maz Kanata marked it as the location of an outlaw garage on a map that she included in the book that became known as the Smuggler's Guide.[4] The planet was the origin point of the Aquaris Freeholders, who forced the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs to make them a gourmet meal after his freighter and finding no spice aboard; Tuggs used a variety of ingredients he had found on Aquaris to create the Aquaris Broth.[3]
Behind the scenes
Aquaris originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity,[5] and was recanonized by its mention in the 2014 novel Tarkin, which also mentions the Cvetaen system,[2] Aquaris's system in the Legends continuity. However, the novel does not explicitly place Aquaris in the Cvetaen system,[5] and the 2025 "Star Systems of the Galaxy" lists both Aquaris and Cvetaen separately.[1]
