Aeten II,[2] also simply known as Aeten,[3] was a volcanically turbulent planet[2] located in Wild Space in grid square J-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] A terrestrial planet, Aeten II held the second orbital position in the Aeten system.[2] It was known for its rare stygium crystals, a type of crystal that could power a starship's stealth systems.[2]
During the era of the Galactic Republic, scientists discovered the existence of stygium crystals on Aeten II, which proved previously theoretical designs for a cloaking device as feasible.[2]
Behind the scenes
In the new Star Wars canon, Aeten II was first mentioned as "Aeten" in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2016.[3] Its entire name was later given in the reference book TIE Fighter Owners' Workshop Manual, written by Ryder Windham and released in 2019.[2] While The Force Awakens Beginner Game places Aeten II in Wild Space, TIE Fighter Owners' Workshop Manual and Star Wars Complete Vehicles, New Edition states its location as the Outer Rim Territories.[4][2]
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Aeten II was first mentioned in Star Wars: Episode I Incredible Cross-Sections, a reference book written by David West Reynolds and published in 1999.[5]
