- "I was younger than you are when the Jedi tested me. I was only four."
- ―Sol, to Verosha Aniseya
176 BBY, or 176[1] Before the Battle of Yavin, was a year in the 'ABY-BBY' dating system[6] that was a part of the High Republic Era.[7] Around that year,[1] the Force-sensitive human Sol left his family to join the Jedi Order and become a Jedi.[5] Sol eventually ascended to the rank of Jedi Knight[8] by 148 BBY. That year,[9] while on a mission to the planet Brendok, Sol and Jedi Master Indara tested the twins Mae-ho and Verosha Aniseya for their ability to use the Force. While testing Verosha, Sol told her about his own experience with joining the Jedi Order, mentioning he joined it at the age of four.[5]
Behind the scenes
176 BBY was first indirectly mentioned in "Destiny,"[5] the third episode of the live-action Disney+ series The Acolyte, which released on June 11, 2024.[8]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide establishes Sol is forty-eight years old during the present day events of The Acolyte, which occur in 132 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, he must have been born around 180 BBY. "Destiny" establishes that Sol left his family to join the Jedi Order when he was four years old, placing that event around 176 BBY.
- ↑ Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious dates the assassination attempt on Padmé Amidala on Coruscant and the carbon-freezing of Han Solo—events that Star Wars: Timelines places in the years 22 BBY and 3 ABY of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system, respectively—to 7955.442.1 and 7980.421.2 in the Coruscant reckoning calendar, therefore establishing a difference of approximately 7,977 years between the two dating systems.
- ↑ Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide places the founding of the Galactic Empire in the year 3258 LY of the Lothal Calendar. Star Wars: Timelines dates the proclamation of the New Order to 19 BBY, placing the zero point—the Battle of Yavin—of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system around 3277 LY and therefore establishing a difference of approximately 3,277 years between the two dating systems.
- ↑ Per Star Wars: The Rebel Files, a calendar existed during the reign of the Galactic Empire the zero point of which was the Empire's founding. Star Wars: Timelines dates the proclamation of the New Order to the year 19 BBY of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system, therefore establishing a difference of approximately nineteen years between the two dating systems.
