Nominations for October 2009

SavageBob

Support

  1. A true master of species and an enthusiast of the obscure, SavageBob is a great candidate for WotM. Users like Bob are the backbone of the site. Darth Trayus Sith Emblem (Trayus Academy) 05:51, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
  2. JMAS Hey, it's me! 14:51, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

Suikoman444

Support

  1. Selflessly plugging away at creating new articles from The Essential Atlas. Friendly, to boot. This is the kind of user that forms the backbone, if not the public face, of Wookieepedia. Let's change that if we can. Graestan(Talk) 13:20, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  2. And he created Wookieepedia's 70,000th article. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 20:33, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
Very friendly and a machine at creating the new Atlas articles. Grunny (Talk) 20:36, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  3. So much gruntwork Enochf 20:46, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  4. He's a machine. Chack Jadson (Talk) 22:29, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  5. Per above. Savage has my vote next month :) JangFett Talk 22:43, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  6. Definitely. IFYLOFD (You will pay the price for your lack of vision!) 22:51, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  7. Wow, just noticed this. I'm honored to have been nominated, but I must throw my support behind Suikoman. Workhorses like this make the site what it is. (I have unfortunately not had the opportunity to interact with Redemption, so my apologies!) ~ SavageBob 14:39, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

  1. Seeing as Suikoman444 only made his first edit one week ago, I have to oppose this nomination. --Eyrezer 05:34, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  2. Per Eyrezer. QuiGonJinn Senate seal(Talk) 18:06, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  3. Per Eyrezer. A week's worth of grunt work and the creation of a milestone article doesn't constitute WotM. He still has time. Darth Trayus Sith Emblem (Trayus Academy) 02:12, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
  4. Per Eyrezer and Trayus. Gmalek 00:09, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
  5. Per above. MauserComlink 02:32, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

  • Alright already, we get it. He's not going to win this month anyhow; why do we have to just keep up showing how little we like the idea of it? Graestan(Talk) 03:12, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
    • If users disagree with the idea, aren't they free to voice their opinions here, regardless of the number of other users who have already disagreed? Darth Trayus Sith Emblem (Trayus Academy) 02:11, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
      • Users are always free to voice their opinions, but I think what Greastan meant was that people constantly adding to the oppose on Wookieepedian of the Month is not necessary and potentially hurtful. While I doubt Suikoman444 minds as he is a nice guy, it's still not necessary to oppose when you can just as easily vote for the user you think should win and leave it at that. If it was a user who truly had done something to not deserve the award fair enough, but there's no need to have so many oppose someone who has been working hard since joining; one or two oppositions would have been enough to point out a reason why someone else may deserve it more at present. Grunny (Talk) 02:56, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
        • Yes, but I don't honestly believe that anyone who opposed was doing so with the intention of hurting Suikoman. As I said in my objection, he has time, and I'm sure he'll get it in the near future. But for now, regardless of who is nominated, users shouldn't be discouraged from objecting to nomination based on whether or not other users have done so already. And I mean no disrespect, but I don't recall seeing a "Think about the nominee's feelings" clause in the WotM guidelines.Darth Trayus Sith Emblem (Trayus Academy) 03:17, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
          • I wasn't saying anyone had that intention nor am I suggesting people be discouraged from opposing, I was simply explaining some of the reasons behind Grae's comment and stating it was not entirely necessary to continue to add to the opposition in this case. As for "think about the nominee's feelings" not being in the guidelines; it's more about being encouraging to users, and considering other users' feelings is part of being a member of a good and welcoming community. Grunny (Talk) 03:34, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
  • I've been working for several years now to promote a more positive-minded wiki, and in my recent absences due to health issues I have found a major slide toward the negative which I would like to put a stop to if at all possible. Graestan(Talk) 12:48, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

Redemption

Support

  1. The fact that such old, friendly and incredibly helpful user, who is responsible for hundreds (thousands?) best-quality scans on the site does not have a WoTM yet is a serious oversight on our part. MauserComlink 20:44, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  2. He seriously deserves this. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 21:46, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  3. As above. —Milo Fett[Comlink] 21:56, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  4. If I had a penny for every time I found a scan replaced by a superb Redemptionified version... NayayenOld Republic military symboltalk 22:06, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  5. Extremely, extremely helpful user and a major contributor to the site. He definitely deserves recognition. Havac 22:31, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  6. Has uploaded some of the highest quality scans on Wookieepedia for the last four years. Also seems to have mellowed out a bit since the last time he was nominated for WotM. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 22:35, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  7. Way overdue. —Master Jonathan(Jedi Council Chambers) 22:38, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
  8. --Eyrezer 05:31, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  9. Though Suiko is the hottest thing right now, it's been a long time coming for Redemption. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:33, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  10. SavageBob has done much for WP:AS, and Suiko's likely our current rising star, but Redemption has been around here for a very long time and has done a lot to deserve it right now. CC7567 (talk) 06:19, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  11. Hate to change my vote, but Redemption really does deserve this. Grunny (Talk) 06:26, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  12. Suiko has been quite easily the most active user for the past few days, having created a lot more than just the 70,000th article. He is, as Grunny puts it, a machine when it comes to the Atlas. But Redemption has been contributing for a lot longer, and this nomination is overdue. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is the truth) 07:44, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  13. QuiGonJinn Senate seal(Talk) 18:06, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
Nice and helpful. That's what Wookieepedians should be! :) --Mando1300 18:52, September 2, 2009 (UTC) (vote stricken per policy)
  14. Definitely deserves this more than I do -- Suikoman444 21:08, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
  15. Per CC. Jonjedigrandmaster (Jedi Beacon) 21:14, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

  20. Green Tentacle (Talk) 13:57, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
  21. Though the two other candidates are very good users as well, but Redemption deserves it the most. Pranay Sobusk ~ Talk 09:00, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
  22. Let's honour one of our unsung heroes who has toiled for years. Andykatib 09:33, September 2009 (UTC)
  23. JorrelWiki-shrinkableFraajic 16:22, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
  24. Images aren't always the easiest thing to come by around here, and quality images even less so. It's good to have someone like Redemption who is willing to help you out and does a damn good job. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:37, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
