- Same reason as RMF: for technical skills, especially templates. I was quite surprised that he wasn't an admin. If he is made one, he will probably be able to do twice as much as he can now. - Sikon 14:36, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

- As he mentions below, he may have got a bit too heated during one edit dispute, but he did make a serious effort to calm the dispute down and call in advice from outside. So I think he'd do well. —Silly Dan (talk) 03:21, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

G1 – Why do you want to become an administrator?
- I had never actually considered becoming an administrator before being nominated. I can say that the idea of wielding the coveted "SysOp powers" has never really tempted me — with that access comes a great deal of responsibility. Becoming an admin requires a conscious commitment to the wiki and I take that sort of commitment quite seriously. Being a perfectionist, when I made the decision to accept the nomination, it meant that I willing to put in the time and effort to become the best SysOp that I can be.
G2 – In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
- An administrator is not a supervisor, legislator, or dictator. An admin's role is to keep the wiki running smoothly by using their SysOp access in a fair and responsible manner.
G3 – In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
- Technical.
G4 – How do feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
- Administrators should only use their power to improve and maintain the wiki. They should NOT use it to give weight to their own opinions, push their personal agendas, or to enforce their will upon other users. SysOp powers should only be used with great care and forethought. Admins are volunteers just like everyone else. They have access to a few features of the MediaWiki software that are not available to everyone, but that in itself does not make them deserving of a higher status in the community.
G5 – Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- I haven't been involved in very many scuffles with other users. The only time that I really lost my patience was during a heated debate recorded on the Malachor V talk page. I finally had to ask Silly Dan to moderate the discussion because it was getting out of hand. I will openly admit that I was acting like an ass on that particular occasion and I apologized. That event was rather embarrassing to me and I do not envision it happening again.
G6 – Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- Being a computer geek, templates are always fun to play with, but I am most happy with my rewrites of the Jedi Civil War and Mandalorian Wars articles. I think that they required more research, time, and effort than anything else that I have contributed to the wiki…
G7 – What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
- Apart from the tasks that I have already been involved in (helping to maintain the template namespace and the WP:QOTD page), I am willing to help out with any and all tasks list at Wookieepedia:Administrators#Responsibilities.
G8 – How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, IDrive, FA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
- I am pretty actively involved in the Senate Hall, Consensus track threads, Userbox proposals, WotM nominations, and Wookieepedia:Votes for deletion. I have not been as active in the IDrive and FA nominations lately because I have been working on other projects and when I vote on an article proposed on those pages, I feel obligated to actually make a contribution — for which I do not always possess the time/energy/knowledge required.
G9 – Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
- That is a very complicated question. In general, I think that it is a bad idea for administrators to step outside the bounds of established policy without at least discussing the issue with another admin. Having said that, our policies simply do not cover every eventuality. At some point or another, every admin is going to have to respond to situations that require a degree of personal judgment. An administrator should only be punished for his/her actions if they are deemed to be malicious in nature. If such actions are repeated, the admin should face the possibility of losing their SysOp access.
G10 – What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
- I have not been a terribly consistent greeter, but in general, I try to welcome every user, anon or not, regardless of their edit count or past history.
G11 – How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
- If another administrator undeleted an article that I had accidentally speedy deleted, I would thank them for saving me some time, but on principle, I personally wouldn't touch an article deleted or undeleted by another admin without discussing the matter with them beforehand.
G12 – How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
- I wouldn't block a user who vandalized just my user page. I would give such a vandal a warning. If they persisted, I would protect the page. If the same user vandalized multiple other pages, I would have no problem blocking them.
G13 – Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
- I would, of course, handle such a touchy situations on a case by case basis. If the offense was mild, I would query the established user before taking any action. In the case of obvious and repeated vandalism, they would have to be treated just like any other user.
G14 – If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
- I think that if I had a magic wand, I would zap all of us Wookieepedians to make us all a little more polite to each other, but sadly, I am not Harry Potter.
C1 – Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
- I am happy with the current policy.
C2 – Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
- I show up once in a blue moon, but I have never really enjoyed chatting online and quite often when I do join the IRC server, no one else is active.
C3 – How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.Net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
- Honestly, that just isn't a subject that I feel very strongly about. Wookieepedia has its own rules and its own identity. I don't think that we need to feel threatened by other Star Wars websites. The only thing that really bothers me is when members from other sites attempt to hijack our voting process, but happily, that does not occur very often.
C4 – How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
- None, they were all CGI. :)
C5 – Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
- George Lucas. Who else could defeat Darth Colbert? (see Forum:Colbert Report Green Screen Challenge)
K1 – Are you or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?
- Yes, I am a card carrying member. Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Mao Tse-Tung - they are like gods to me… ;)
I1 – What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
- I sense a trick question. Consensus is usually needed in order to create policy. Policy is required in order to determine when a consensus is reached. They are both important and I value them equally. I believe that current policy should be enforced and should not be overridden on a page-by-page basis just because the majority of the users who contribute to a certain article just happen to dislike the policy.
