  1. Fred, Frd, Furd, Fard, Fart. He goes by many names on Wookieepedia, but his dedication to our project has been unwavering and unquestioning since he first joined us twelve years ago. Fred's development as a Wookieepedia user over the past decade should be held up as a model for others to follow. He's gone from the noob who got blocked five days after registering his account to one of our most respected veterans, holding positions in the AgriCorps and EduCorps reviewing panels, and helping to manage our Facebook and Instagram accounts as a member of Wookieepedia's Social Media Team. While Fred's edit count may not be as large as some other users, he just goes to show that the number of edits someone contributes to Wookieepedia isn't nearly as important as the mature and professional influence they have on the community. Over the past ten years, I've had the pleasure of coming to know Fred, on and off Wookieepedia, better than probably anyone else I've ever interacted with from our wiki, and there's no one else I would rather have new users looking to for guidance. He represents the best of what a Wookieepedia administrator should be, which is especially important in our new Discord age, where so many raw and inexperienced users need a trustworthy and knowledgeable figure like Fred to lead them. We've lost two administrators to retirement since the start of 2020, which has left us needing to fill that void. Myself and other administrators have often joked that Fred is like our consigliere because, despite not being an admin, he has frequently been involved in our private discussions as a trusted advisor and has helped shape many of our most important community decisions. But Fred has more than earned his seat on the council, and it's time we make it official. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 21:57, July 20, 2020 (UTC)
  2. VOTE FARD "FRUDO" THE FRD FOR PRESIDENT. Seriously, Fred has got the admin-type attitude towards the Wook. Keep up the good work! Imperators II(Talk) 22:02, July 20, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Congrats Fred, definitely well earned! --Lewisr (talk) 22:03, July 20, 2020 (UTC)
  4. A strong support from me, Fred has been an excellent member of the wikia for as long as I've known him, and his recent work on Project Stardust and Galaxy's Edge content is only the latest in a long line of great projects and articles he's been involved with. He's also the only editor to ever care about music articles and also the only editor here who's technically a part of the Star Wars universe and canon. Enjoy this long overdue honour. 8. You are on this council, and we grant you the rank of Master. But, all kidding aside, in the short time that I've known Fred, he's been a source of great inspiration to me, and on top of heading the recently-created Project Stardust to being a great mentor, and a great friend, he's definitely one of the nicest people I've ever met in my entire life. Congratulations, Fred, you've definitely earned this title! CIS roundel Erebus Chronus Open frequency 22:14, July 20, 2020 (UTC)
  9. I couldn't have put it better than Tope, but putting Fred's considerable maturity, professionally, dedication, and skill aside, he is also one of the most genuine people around here, and it's a privilege to work beside him on reviewing matters. I've also seen him extend this caring and forthcoming attitude when helping new users, especially with reviews and stardust projects, something I cannot stress the importance of more. As such, I look forward to also having him on the admin team, he has definitely earned this. Tommy-Macaroni 22:15, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

  11. Finally an administrator that will represent the middle of the alphabet. Jokes aside, Fred, or FERD as he also goes by, has been around as long as I can remember and he has always been a level-headed, diplomatic, and helpful Wookieepedian. As a member of the Social Media Team and as the man behind Project Stardust, Fred has consistently showed leadership and initiative to improve the wiki. He will make an excellent addition to the admin team. 1358 (Talk) 22:37, July 20, 2020 (UTC)
  12. As the other administrators mentioned, Fred has an incredible dedication to Wookieepedia and one of the people who is always willing to help. He has always shown initiative with new projects such as the Galaxy's Edge WookieeProject and Project Stardust. I look forward to have you on the admin team, Congratulations Fred--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 22:47, July 20, 2020 (UTC)
  13. I cannot think of any Wookieepedian more deserving of this. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 23:00, July 20, 2020 (UTC)
  14. Fred is very well deserving of this responsibility. Before, I sometimes had moments where I forgot that Fred was not an admin, as he is always around, inspired others, helped whenever possible, and was always involved in top-level Wook matters. It's very good to have him as another member of this community's valuable admin group. He has my full support. Cheers Fred! Huge congratulations!--Vitus InfinitusTalk 23:25, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

I've known Fred for a long time while working on the Wookieepedia Instagram account. He ways always nice and helpful and definitely cares about Star Wars and treats the Wook like a full-time job! He's also our inside man at Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge, so y'all better treat him nice! Definitely good admin material. 19. I'm going to go out-of-character for a bit here and say some nice things, because Fred is someone I respect. He has been around so long, and is so familiar with the Wookieepedia community and with so many of the active members, that he might as well be an admin already. He's an instinctive leader, and a natural mediator who can give a fair hearing to dissenting points of view even when he holds his own strong opinion on a particular subject. And while he works for Disney (🤮) and embraces NuCanon, he has a healthy respect for the REAL Star Wars. So, TL;DR: Vote Fred. Culator doesn't hate him. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 04:07, July 21, 2020 (UTC)

  23. Fred is the guy who is always here. Always available to help people, and an all around great guy. In my time here, he's gone from a co-editor, to someone I consider a good friend. Congratulations on this nomination, very well deserved. Supreme Emperor (talk) 16:42, July 21, 2020 (UTC)
  24. Fred is definitely a great leader and a friendly and caring dude. Despite not being the longest-tenured editor, his admin qualities are very evident. Well deserved! Wok142 (talk) 17:02, July 21, 2020 (UTC)
  25. This has been a long time coming. Fred is a veteran, well-respected, and generally just an awesome guy. Project Stardust, merely the latest in his long line of notable contributions to the wiki, is an impressive initiative to clean up our more important articles and organizing and leading that showcases his leadership talent perfectly. I can't think of anyone better to become the next administrator. Full support. Fan26 (Talk) 17:45, July 21, 2020 (UTC)

Optional candidate Q&A
  1. Why do you want to become an administrator?
    • I love this wiki, and thus I want to acquire any tool that could help me better serve it.
  2. In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
    • An admin is to be a voice of reason, a mediator, and the kind of person who can balance kindness and caring with a firm hand.
  3. In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
    • Ideally, it's the former, but in the real world, there will always be a little bit of the latter.
  4. How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
    • An admin is simply another member of the community and should only use additional weight as a last resort.
  5. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
    • I have absolutely butted heads with fellow Wookieepedians in the past, and I'm sure it will happen again. The best you can do is remain civil and realize we're all here because we love Star Wars and this wiki. If that fails, fess up and be honest. Seek to repair any damages.
  6. Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
    • Most recently I was pleased to get Simpi to GA status, as he will rule us all. My greatest achievement of all time was probably Duel of the Fates. I'm also very proud of how effective WookieeProject Galaxy's Edge and Project Stardust have been.
  7. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
    • Any that I can.
  8. How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, FA, GA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
    • Admins should seek to be involved in every aspect of the community's functionality to at least some degree. It's important not only so we can make sure policy is being followed, but so we can help lead discourse in a productive direction if need be.
  9. Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
    • That depends on the specific actions and situations, but anything done out of malintent should receive discipline equal to that of any other user, and with the understanding that an admin of all users should know better.
  10. What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
    • I personally try to welcome any new user I see in RecentChanges. I check their edit first, and if there are any issues with it, I leave them some tips along with the welcome message. I will also welcome anons if I see they are editing frequently in an attempt to get them to create an account and fully embrace the community.
  11. How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
    • If it's a mistake, I would hope another admin would fix it without concern for my ego. I want what's best for the wiki, even if that requires getting my feelings hurt. If I were to undelete an article deleted by another admin, I'd just seek them out and ask their rationale. After discussing, I'd move forward with whatever we decide is best. If no agreement can be reached, I'll ask for second and third opinions from other admins, and if no consensus can be reached there, the community can always decide in a TC.
  12. How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
    • If it was obvious vandalism and grounds for a block, I'd block the user. If it seems like it might be a simple mistake or a user not understanding user page etiquette, I'd reach out to them on their talk page with a warning.
  13. Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
    • Exact same as anyone else. Everyone operates under the same rules.
  14. If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
    • I'd like there to be a comprehensive tutorial system that walks new editors through the various aspects of editing and writing and community involvement as they progress through different experience levels.
  15. Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full?
    • Either way, I need a refill.
  16. Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
    • I see no real issue with it as is.
  17. Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
    • Hmmm, maybe. :P (I've been there since, like, 2009)
  18. How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
    • If they have earned their voice here and have proven they have the wiki's best interests at heart, I don't care what they do elsewhere on the Internet.
  19. How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
    • Too many. The GAR is a slave army. Free them all!
  20. Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
    • Kyle Katarn's beard.
  21. What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
    • There must be a balance of both. Policy keeps us grounded, but it is created through consensus.
  22. Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)?
    • Leading several projects here throughout the years, as well as our Social Media Team. I'm also a lead at work.
  23. What is your attitude towards users who have quit the site or have been banned, but still continue to attempt to influence the site in any way?
    • Get your edit count back up to eligibility or stay out. If you don't want to contribute to the community's main goal, then stay out of the community's business.
  24. What is your wiki philosophy?
    • I'm fairly inclusionist, but I can tell when not a single reader in the world will ever read a certain article and deem it unnecessary. MasterCommerce GuildFredcerique 07:45, July 21, 2020 (UTC)
