- Grunny is a great user. Though he's been here since before me, it's just fairly recently that he's become a regular user, and in that time he's accomplished a lot. He's an Inq, a member of the AC, and has rollback rights. He writes FAs and GAs, and his nominations are usually very clean. But more than that, he's a very friendly and helpful guy. I know that as an admin, he would just as willing to help users, and would be in a greater position to do so. Thus, I place Grunny up for adminship. Chack Jadson (Talk) 16:41, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Definitely. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 16:47, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- He's helped me out in numerous ways since I got here; and he's always been patient, friendly, and encouraging. I believe he deserves this. Jonjedigrandmaster (Jujiggum) 17:00, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Grunny has dedicated a great deal of his time to helping Wookieepedia become a better site. He not only spends time dealing with maintenance issues, he is incredibly helpful to any new users that ask him for help. Ever since I have gotten to know him, he has been cheerful and friendly, always willing to work with other people. His leadership skills have grown by leaps and bounds and have been recognized accordingly. This is quite easily one of the most well-deserved nominations. Cylka-talk- 17:02, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

- Yes, Grunny is a very friendly member and truly deserves to be an admin. Dedicated to help promote articles to GA/FA and is a good leader and friend. JangFett Talk 23:51, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

- It's not so much that Grunny is my right-hand man; it's that he's everyone's right-hand man. Always the first to offer his assistance in almost any venture, Grunny has never let slip even the slightest mote of negativity on the wiki and in IRC, and even behind closed doors he is reserved and extremely objective. Also importantly, he is a very competent user who watches the recent changes during hours most current admins are absent—I've been saying for a long time that we need a very strong admin in the Australia time zones. Grunny is the man for the job, undeniably. Graestan(Talk) 02:42, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

- Appears to possess all the good qualities of a fine administrator, but also a great editor. Even involved in four WookieeProjects. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:11, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- Doesn't seem mean enough, but we'll get him properly trained. We need more admins from the opposite end of the world to rule with an iron fist while I'm asleep. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 13:56, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- Grunny is the hallmark of class, respect, and integrity. An exemplary attitude and masterful knowledge of the site's workings. Truly an asset to the team. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:41, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Optional candidate Q&A
- Why do you want to become an administrator?
- To help benefit the site. I’m on Woookieepedia for most of everyday, and I believe I can help the site and its users by being an administrator. I often find myself online at times when there are few or no admins available in IRC and this would allow me to deal with vandals, delete nonsense articles, and other tasks without having to wait for an admin to come online.
- In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
- Administrators are the leaders of the community, the faces of the site and role models to other users. It is their job to ensure the site functions properly and to guide new users as they find their way. It is important that admins set a good example to other uses, and act responsibly in the position.
- In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
- Both. The technical aspect of the position allows them to maintain the quality of the site, but they are also the leaders of the site who many users look up to and seek out for advice.
- How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
- I don't think admins are any more important than other users. While they have been given more tools, their contributions aren't more important than any other user's, and they should use the tools elected to them responsibly and to benefit the community.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- I haven't been in any conflicts with any users so far and haven't had any that have caused me stress. I always try to discuss things with people if there is any issue, and have no problem admitting when I'm wrong or made a mistake. If a problem arises in the future, I believe I will be able to resolve it by discussing the matter :).
- Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- I'm proud of all my articles, but two in particular stick in my mind: Force speed and Darth Azard, my first GA and FA respectively. Both taught me a lot about what was required of status articles on the site and taught me a lot about reviewing as well. I'm also very proud of working with the AgriCorps :-).
- What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
- All of them to a certain extent, though I'll be mainly involved in countering vandalism, resolving conflicts, maintenance tasks and helping new users.
- How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, FA, GA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
- I think it is very important for users to be involved in community discussions and votes, and I make sure to vote on nearly every CT, TC, and RFU after considering the options and ensuring I have an understanding of the issue. I'm also heavily involved in the GA/FA process as both a writer and reviewer, as a member of both the AgriCorps and the Inquisitorius. I consider the GA/FA process to be one of the main focuses of the site, as our goal is to be as complete an encyclopedia as possible, and our featured and good articles reflect that.
- Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
- I think they should be examined on a case by case basis. If an admin performed an actions for reasons not covered in policy, they should be given the opportunity to explain their reasons for doing so. It may be that our policies need to be re-examined if the action is deemed to be an appropriate one. However, if the admin repeatedly abuses their privileges, they should be approached about it and then, if they continue to violate policy, an RFRA may be required.
- What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
- I used to welcome users regularly before Wikia set-up the automatic welcome, however, I would check the users contributions for vandalism before doing so. Now I occasionally welcome a user that I see in the creation log, as I believe our welcome template can provide them with information that would allow them to avoid misunderstandings. When it comes to IPs, I very rarely welcome them unless one stands out as making consistently useful edits.
- How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
- If I made a mistake in deleting an article, I wouldn't have a problem with it. However, I think it would be a courtesy to have the reasons explained to me in an edit summary, talk page message, or in IRC. If I saw an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, I would leave them a message on their talk page or in IRC, either before or after I undeleted the article, and explain the reason in the edit summary. In both cases, if either side disagreed, I would discuss the matter with admin and come to an agreement :).
- How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
- I would treat it the same as any other form of vandalism, I don't see my user page as any different from any other page on the site. I would revert and warn, and block if appropriate per our policies. If it was a simple misunderstanding from a new user who tried to correct something on my user page, I would leave them a message just explaining our policies :).
- Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
- If they violated policy, simple as that. It shouldn't matter whether they're established users or not, in fact more established users should know better.
- If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
- I can't think of anything in particular that stands out. I'm sure if something does come up, it will be resolved in a CT.
- Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full?
- Depends what's in the glass, but most likely half-full :).
- Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
- I think it's okay as is. It gives administrators enough flexibility to deal with most situations.
- Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
- I already am. I'm on IRC everyday, and am around whenever I am online. I think it's important to have admins available in IRC at all times, so they can help users with any problems they may have, as well as being more involved in the community.
- How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.Net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
- If they are active Wookieepedians, then they have as much right as any other user to vote on matters of policy. Active users should be allowed to be members of other sites and it shouldn't be a problem.
- How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
- A lot.
- Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
- Kyle Katarn of course.
- Are you or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?
- No, I wasn't even aware Australia had a communist party until a few weeks ago :P.
- What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
- I'd probably have to say policy, but consensus dictates policy so both are linked.
- Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)?
- On Wookieepedia I am the project leader of WookieeProject Legacy Era, as well as a member of both the AgriCorps and Inquisitorius. Off-site I've been captain of sports teams, and regularly head engineering projects at university.
- What is your attitude towards users who have quit the site or have been banned, but still continue to attempt to influence the site in any way?
- I believe only active contributors should be allowed to influence the site in any way. Banned users should not be allowed to influence the site, and any attempt should be dealt with severely. As for users who have quit, if they wish to have a say in site matters, they should return and start contributing again before voting on anything. If they are not contributing, then they should also not be allowed to influence the site, as they have shown they do not care about the site anymore.
