  • Hopefully I'm doing this right. Can the citation for Spanish being based on the eponymous real-world language be attributed to the episode? SorcererSupreme21 (talk) 07:26, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
    • Given that, barring the subtitles, the language is named, spoken, and treated the same way as real-world Spanish, it seems like it should work to me. I'm frankly not sure what else that would be cited to. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 01:15, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
      • Stepping in as pings to original objector haven't resulted in reply. Other nominations that mention real-world subjects such as garlic or flex-tape (historically, any nomination with the phrasing 'In the real world…' always includes a source affirming it's a real-world concept, even if treated exactly the same. It would generally just cite to something such as an encylopedic article or another reputable source that has a basic definition of the topic at hand.—spookywillowwtalk 03:59, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
        • Gotcha, added. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 04:03, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

OOM
  • Fabuloso. Just one thing: when you say the spoken word "sí" sounds like the letter "C," you should also mention in which language the letter is spoken in. In itself, the letter, like the rest of the alphabet, is a component of the written language but not the spoken language. OOM 224 (he/him) 13:38, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
    • Added. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 21:05, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
      • Cool. Actually, I think other parts of the article should also mention that Basic was being spoken when Spanish wasn't, by various people during the class and when Owen asked Threepio. I'm also wondering if the BTS should mention that the equivalent of the English language is Galactic Basic Standard just so it's clear to readers. OOM 224 (he/him) 15:45, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
        • Added the mentions of Basic, though I didn't add the part in the BTS as I'm not quite sure that's necessary myself. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 17:04, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Comments

  • FYI, I have removed the author and date parameters in the Sources section per this. TanDivoInsignia-SenateMurders Anıl Şerifoğlu (talk) 14:54, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
  • Would the BTS be an appropriate spot to discuss some things like MyComyc that were published in Spanish first? Commander Code-8 Hello There! 11:55, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
    • Honestly, I'd say those comic strips that are exclusive to Spain shouldn't be documented here as this article is about the in-universe Spanish, which includes the name "Arturito," rather than the Star Wars content exclusively published in Spanish.
