Vaathkree system

The Vaathkree system was located in the Periphery, a subsector of the Tharin sector^[3] of the Outer Rim Territories^[1] and the Slice.^[2] It was situated in the grid square S-8 of the Standard Galactic Grid.^[1] A hyperspace route linked^[4] the Vaathkree system to the Boonta and Klatooine systems.^[1]

Behind the scenes

The Vaathkree system was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a galactic map in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a 2016 Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars Roleplaying boxed set.^[1] It was then identified by name in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com^[3] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.^[5] Its Star Wars Legends continuity counterpart, the Vaath'kror system, was originally introduced in the 1997 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Secrets of the Sisar Run.^[6]

The Star Wars sources that identify the Vaathkree system by its name consistently do so as a map label without a corresponding point on the map.^[1][7][8][9] However, both the December 12, 2020^[10] The High Republic Free Digital Sampler^[11] and the February 3, 2021^[12] comic book The High Republic Adventures (2021) 1—the latter written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Harvey Tolibao—depict a point on the galactic map^[4] that corresponds to the placement of Star Wars Legends' Vaath'kror system. This article therefore assumes that the same placement also holds true for the Vaathkree system.^[13]
