WP links
Ah, sorry about that. As far as Wikipedia links go, I've been slightly annoyed with them, as they frequently direct us to a slice of a "various minor stuff from Star Wars" page which has either very little information attached, or pages that contain so little information on the subject that I feel it is rather moot—we have more here, and directing readers there is a bit of a waste. However, I did start to realize my error when I hit some of the big names, and stopped. Should I revert them all? It's your call. With respect, Graestan(This party's over) 14:47, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- As for the fan site stuff, I really feel that SWTC is a bit misleading for users, who have had a very small piece of Mr. Saxton's creations canonized, but are still being referred to the rest of his unofficial (as I believe he should point out in the very title of his site, as very few people read introductory paragraphs) works, which are still considered fanon. I was beginning to apply the same logic to sites which were linked to without any pretext as to whether they were verifiable and only contained canonical information, but it really was just a thought. I'm quite open to undoing my work last night, and I hope you're not offended. Graestan(This party's over) 14:52, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Why
Why was Jack Nebulax exiled?—Unsigned comment by Darth Oompa Loompa (talk • contribs)
- Persistently argumentative behaviour and edit-warring. You'd have to ask the people who did block him for the details about whatever it was that led to his final block: my only involvement there was to archive and lock his talk page to prevent people from leaving him messages he couldn't respond to anyway (whether the messages were to taunt him, complain about the block, or to ask him some other question.) You seem to be a very new user here, though: why do you want to know? —Silly Dan (talk) 16:05, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

- Good solution; I'm fine with it in the Bts section like you have it. More broadly, you've done a good job on the expansion as a whole. jSarek 18:43, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Do Rodians hear through their ears or antenna? Vaocan appears to still have his ear in that pic - of course that begs the question of why his right-side hearing is impaired... --Eyrezer 22:22, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- The Databank calls the antennae "twin saucer-like sensory organs", while Ultimate Alien Anthology, Galaxy Guide 4, and both the new and old Essential Guides to Alien Species don't mention them at all. I guess the offhand mention in H & R means they hear with their antennae, but then what are their ears for? —Silly Dan (talk) 14:49, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Or the same explosion that took his antenna cost him his hearing in one ear. jSarek 01:11, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

%s
In Mozilla Firefox is a function named keywords. How does it work? There is an instruction - http://youtube.com/watch?v=atEc5xQOkI4 (or http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_keyword_searches). As you see it's very heplful. For example my keyword for Wookiepedia is "woo". But when I (or anybody else) write down only "woo" I'll enter the page named "%s". And there should be redirect to Main Page. When I want to enter the Wookiepedia I don'h have to write "starwars.wiki.com but I can write only "woo". Faster and better (searching), belive me :P. Trust me - a lot of people use this function and redirect :) PS. Sorry for my English :) --Abe125 17:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Tirog
Nice work; very clear, which is a real accomplishment considering what an oddball topic he is. I like the "fourth wall" link. The only thing I was concerned with was the "probably a Class 720 Ghtroc" bit; I felt that might be just a teensy bit fan-assumption-y, so I changed it to "possibly," which I felt more comfortable with. If you want to change it back, I will not edit-war you. :) Shoot for FA. Tirog belongs on the main page. Cheers, Gonk (Gonk!) 00:43, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Rank capitalization
I want to clear this up with you, Dan, since we're obviously disagreeing on this rank capitalization for the DYK. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the DYK sentence is structured so that the reference is being made to his rank ("[an] admiral of the Imperial Navy.") and not his person, specifically, and should be de-capitalized as such: "A rank's name is not to be capitalized if it refers to the rank, not a person. "Ackbar was a well-known admiral." or "As a captain, he had many responsibilities." Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:14, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- You're right. And we're not disagreeing: I already changed the main template to reflect your edit to the archive. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:31, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Request
Hey do you have any contact with the admins on Wiki 24 if you do can you please ask them to unblock me because I did not do any thing to disrupt or disturb that encyclapedia and I would like to have asecond chance to make good edits on that site and if you would please ask them to unblock my freind BlackKirby because he did not do any thing either.Sith24ssb 23:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- No, I don't have any contact with the people on that wiki, and I'm certainly not going to bother them about their application of their policies on their wiki. —Silly Dan (talk) 23:15, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Forgive me sir, this is none of your buiness. And I only know about this conversation becase Sith24ssb called me about it. At this point, you probaly think we're the same people right? Because we're both 13, we both like the same things, and we both talk to each other a lot, right? This is'nt true. We're not the same people, we are best friends, who live close to each other. But that automactically means we're sockpuppets, does'nt it. Here, let me tell you what happened on wiki 24. I called Sith24ssb one day, and told him about this site. He logged on, and made contact with me. Together, we made edits, and kept in contact, and sinse I was a user quite longer than he was, I helped him more than he helped me. It's perfectly normal for us to be best friends, both be the same age, both go to the same school, and both like the same things. This is normal. And we also have a right to both make edits to an encyclopedia, without being blocked right? Apparently not, as one day, we both get blocked by an admin who simply belives we're sockpuppets, in other words, the same guy. And he would'nt even let us speak, he just indefinatly blocked us and protected our talk pages without letting us argue the block, followed by an 29 year-old(or so he says) admin's nasty and obviously pointless comment to me. So that's the law now? If two people are best friends on an encyclopedia, they're suddenly the same person. I'm sure you don't care, but you have to admit, you can't see any justice in this. I'm apologise about this, and I'm sure you have better things to do than listen to two 13 year-old kids who's opinion does'nt matter. I'll let you continue your work. Hopefully this, unlike some sites, will allow friends to edit an encyclopedia and help each other make edits without being assmued to be the same person. You allow best friends to come here right? Is there something wrong about this that I should know about?Black Kirby 23:59, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, I hate to interrupt a good monologue, but it's probably better for all concerned if you guys drop the issue. Silly Dan cannot help on any other wikis that he doesn't have adminship on, and to be honest, Wookieepedians in general don't care about your real life situation. I`m sorry to disturb you it will never happen again you can go on with your duties with out worring about me and BlackKirby.Sith24ssb 02:41, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- It does'nt matter to me whether you care or not, if you have'nt noticed, I'm not the one who started this conversation, I just explained it in better words. I just don't want the same misunderstanding on this wiki. Me and Sith24ssb will talk, dicuss the encyclopedia, and try to help this site in ways we have'nt had a chance to. Just don't block me, or Sith24ssb for sockppupetry. We're not the same person, we are friends, and we want to help just as much as you. Goodbye.Black Kirby 03:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
TC
Um, forgive me if this is off, but the results for Unknown Rodian's TC was 11-6. IMHO that's a pretty clear consensus in favor of deletion...--Goodwood 20px (Alliance Intelligence) 01:28, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- 12-6 would be a clear consensus. 11-6 means "if you want, put this back in the TC, with a more airtight argument this time." Unfortunately, no one seems to believe my "that's Greedo" argument, and trying to come up with some sort of notability policy for background characters without a name or a significant function in any storyline leads to far too much wailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of garments, so I don't think I'll try it this evening... 8) —Silly Dan (talk) 01:32, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Mailing list
Hey, Silly Dan. I've set up a private administrator mailing list to help coordinate the current administrators of the site, and I am attempting to contact each administrator to get them to subscribe. You can subscribe here. My point with setting up this mailing list to get all of the administrators of Wookieepedia operating on the same page, and in a more unified fashion. Regardless of any personal differences that may exist between some members, I still feel that it is important that we are all operating on the same level, with regards to knowledge of the site, and new/upcoming stuff that is going to happen—so, basically, this is an attempt to coordinate us all in an effort to help keep us on the same page with regards to new policies, new ideas, announcements, discussions, etc. In my opinion, we're all on the same team and this will only help us to be a more organized and cohesive working unit—even more so than we currently are. I've already spoken with a few admins via IRC, and they have liked my point of this whole thing, and have thus signed up—I would really appreciate it you could do likewise :) Any questions about this, you know where you can reach me. Cheers, Greyman

Dash Rendar fanpics
Hey Silly Dan
I was not going to write an article on xpressentertainment, merely adding a picture of Dash Rendar that is used in their film, and I started with creating a link to their page so if people wondered where the picture came from they could take a look at it.

I'm kinda breaking my own rule by replying on your page, but I have a request. First off, thanks. I was not aware of the policy change. Second off, I just did the Unknown scout trooper, as well. I created the page before I read your message. I'm not quite sure how you move articles, so if you wouldn't mind doing that for me, that'd be appreciated. Hello Sillydan,
I was wondering why User: Jack Nebulax was blocked, however i noticed some one else had already asked, you said to ask the people who decided/Asked-for him to be blocked, who exactly where these people? not so i can vandalise their user page of course ;) 92.236.84.252 17:58, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I answered this question already, and will not address it again on this page. Why on Earth do you care? —Silly Dan (talk) 18:05, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Practically every page on wookieepedia has been edited by Jack, and i've never noticed him behaving uncivil, i wanted to know what led to his block, and "Persistently argumentative behaviour and edit-warring" isn't very informtive, some proof maybe? 92.236.84.252 18:18, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- "Persistently argumentative behaviour and edit-warring" means exactly what it says. If you care that much, Forum:SH Archive/Complaints on an overzealous Wookiepeedian, Forum:CT Archive/Jack Nebulax, Forum:CT Archive/Nebulax vote have discussions of his behaviour. Also, if you care that much, you can probably follow the links to work out who blocked him and when. I'm not one of the people who gave him a long-term block: I only archived and locked his talk page to stop people from leaving harassing messages for him or from lobbying to get the block overturned on an inappropriate page. —Silly Dan (talk) 18:32, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

This is unfair.
Listen, I am Edgeorge23 (the vandal) and I am mad at the administrators of this Wikia for the following reasons:
1). First and most important, I have to tell you that I was totally enraged when I read that you, SillyDan, blocked me for 3 months for being a “sockpuppet master”. I understand your stance but I swear that this is all a terrible misunderstanding. The truth is that I am not behind control of users Takuma and Bustito. The truth is that these users are my brothers who wanted a Wookiepedia account after I told them about it . Then by brothers tell me that their accounts have been blocked and then, after trying to log in with my own account, my IP was blocked. What I told you was nothing but the truth and I would love to prove you that in anyway. You got to believe me, man. I am sending you this from my friend’s computer. Three months? PS: Sorry for my poor English, it’s not my native language. because I am not. I have a certain dignity. I swear that I understand that blocking IS FAIR. And I really have to thank you for blocking me, because now I know the rules better. The accounts are really not under my control, I swear, I don’t even know their passwords…I really don’t. You have to believe me please, I am gonna get crazy!! This is a crime I did not commit!! I don’t wanna get punished for it! I really don’t! I am ready for any trials and courts, because I am innocent and I love Wookiepedia. I am ready to give, I am ready to make Wookiepedia “a better place”. I am ready to face my punishment, but not for something that I did not even do.
2).I supported my young (14y.) brother’s editings because they were fair. When he put it, you people erased it. When I put it, you kept it. Can you explain, please, cause I do not understand. Please pardon any of my questions, I’m a newbie…
I know you cannot redeem me completely from my punishment, because I was guilty about the vandalism part, I understand and I will responsibly get punished. But I strongly insist that I am innocent about the sockpuppet master thing…It still hits my nerves, you almost got me to cry when I read this, really.
I demand my punishment to be lowered (3 months?) and to be fully reddemed of ANY charges about controlling multiple accounts.
I tell you once again that I am not the controller of these accounts, my brothers are.
Next time I will check my editings twice and consult you, too. See what you can do about my punishment. My block ID is: #28188 and I can tell you that I would be saddened if you did not punish me at all…But about the multiple accounts, this is totally unfair.
Contact me anytime for any questions about my complains and anything else. Thank You Very Much, Edgeorge23 the vandal (you started it.)
- Greyman and I have discussed this, and he convinced me your block should not be lifted. —Silly Dan (talk) 21:36, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Hwy, sorry to bother ya so early in the morning, gahhh.. it's what? 4:30 A.M.? But anyway.... How do ya award somebody an award, like a pit droid award? or a wookiee cookiee?????????? —Unsigned comment by Darth blight (talk • contribs)
- Hm? It's well into midmorning here. Anyway, awards are pretty straightforward. Check Help:Templates for advice on how to use templates, then add one of the templates included on Wookieepedia:Awards to the user's talk page. Don't forget to sign your comment with four ~s. In response to the message you left me at User talk:96.240.193.169 (yes, it's me, My IP is dynamic, so it's always changing).
When I read Riridadaecho7's post, I assumed at the time that he was broadly asking how all writers in general create character names. A question that wasn't appropiate for Wookieepedia, and one that would be best asked at a forum or website dedicated to writing. Even if he was speciffically refering to Star Wars writers, it was still a question that couldn't possibly be answered unless Steve Perry, Karen Traviss, or any other Star Wars author happened to be reading the forums. Even if the question was asked in the KB, it would still be beyond the scope of Wookieepedia, since only the writers themselves can answer the question. And wouldn't that question be a borderline violation of rule 8? since only the writers themselves could verify how they create character names.
Anyway, the matter is over with now, so I guess that's all there is to it.96.240.192.203 20:46, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- OK, that's more or less what I thought happened. I've also talked to Riridadaecho7 about what I think went wrong there, so I think everything's settled now. —Silly Dan (talk) 21:46, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
One last thing while I'm here:
I used to have a User name A long time ago, but I stopped using it and have been editing as an anon on-and-off ever since, with various IP addresses. I have been thinking about creating a new username, but i'm not sure what I should do with the old one. If I start using a new name, should I just make a note on my old userpage that I'm not using that name anymore, and put a link to the contribs for that name (and some of my previous IP's as well) on my new userpage? 96.240.192.203 20:46, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- That would be OK. Actually, did your previous username had an email address attached? If so, you should try to get the password to your old account if you've forgotten it, since it would be good if you confirmed your new user name while logged into your old account. Anyway, welcome back! —Silly Dan (talk) 21:46, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I remembered my old password and made a note on my old userpage that I'm not using that name anymore. Gray Jedi 23:25, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I didn't get to read any of the answers because someone deleted it. Well, I didn't know I needed to be sooooooo specific. Maybe, I should ask what the dimensions of Vader's Bathroom was.

- If either of you have some sort of non-wiki webspace of your own, you could comment to one another there. You could also try the Guestbook wikia. Beyond that, I don't know. —Silly Dan (talk) 19:37, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Re:H'nemthe
I removed it because, like you said, it's about one particular H'nemthe, rather than the species. I didn't get an objection about it, but I thought it might be good to take it out. Thanks. Chack Jadson (Talk) 23:48, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Deleting User: Misterobi1
Hello, just curouis about why you deleted Obi1's Userpage, cause he's done edits and such so surely he must be a user? thanks - Kingpin13Cantina Battle Ground 12:11, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- He's been blocked indefinitely as a "sockpuppet" of another user, so he doesn't get a userpage unless he is unblocked and established to be a separate person. Then any admin can restore the deleted page. —Silly Dan (talk) 12:15, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okays thanks. Also is there some way to let people know your not a sockpuppet, because my twin, User: RC-1136, is on Wookieepedia as well and my younger brother is quite keen to get an acount. I've put a message on my Userpage saying the RC-1136 isn't my sock puppet but is that enough? Thanks - Kingpin13Cantina Battle Ground 12:20, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- The best thing is for you and and any other users you may be personally connected with to make sure you don't consistently take the same side in edit wars by trying to add almost exactly the same text to an article, as Obi1 and another user who claims to be his brother have done. If three users claim to be brothers but don't edit in lockstep, I have no reason to assume they're actually the same person. On the other hand, if three users claim to be brothers but keep making exactly the same edits, especially after one of them has been blocked, I have no reason to assume it's not one person pretending to be an entire family to evade blocks. —Silly Dan (talk) 12:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okay I'll talk to my brothers about it then. It's kinda difficult because me and my twin are always trying to see what the other one's doing, LOL. Thanks very much. - Kingpin13Cantina Battle Ground 12:29, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Unidentified father of Jobin and Lieda Mothma
I'm really not sure a TC is necessary. Regardless of the article's history, it is much the same as the conjectural stars deletion policy recently put through. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 21:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Solar Sailer
Hello Silly Dan, I noitce you've put a merge tag on Tyranus's Solar Sailer to merge with the type of ship it is. But surely it shouldn't be merged as this is a certain ship of that make not the make? If you get what I mean - Kingpin13Cantina Battle Ground 12:11, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- When I put the tag on, I thought there was only one Punworcca 116-class interstellar sloop in existence, but the end of the article, now that I actually read it carefully, indicates there may have been at least two or three. I guess some of the info from that article should go into the article on Tyranus's specific ship. —Silly Dan (talk) 12:17, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okay so copy some of the info from Punworcca 116-class interstellar sloop onto Tyranus's Solar Sailer but keep both the articles. I'll do that now (or try) - Kingpin13Cantina Battle Ground 12:25, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Ads...
"Apparently, our pre-existing infobox templates incorporate some sort of "table" code which stops the box from appearing and replaces it with a banner. This wasn't a response to the new skin (we've had our infoboxes like that since the Monobook days), but it has gotten rid of the one thing which annoyed me most about the new ad placement. If you check one of our few long articles with no infobox, you'll see that we have the box ads too."
From a few weeks ago, about ads...
I was wondering, which infoboxes does this apply to? On the Star Wars wiki? Kimera 757 (talk) 00:21, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Pretty much all of them, as far as I can tell. Certainly our many character infoboxes have this property. —Silly Dan (talk) 00:32, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
