MediaWiki upgrade

After seeing a bunch of extra table tags everywhere, I got a little spooked. My immediate reaction was to go to #wikia, and Angela told me it's a MediaWiki upgrade, so I feel better. But we need to let the masses know not to go trying to fix it themselves.

MY skin

You put stuff on MediaWiki:Myskin.css when it's supposed to be empty. Please clear it. If you want css on your Myskin then put it in your own myskin.css.

    • Then make a page with that stuff as a subpage of your user page and put a link to it on the talk page or something. That way, people can use it if they want. If they want some skin they invented and is completely different than any of the other skins, they are supposed to set their skin to 'Myskin' and put the css for their new skin on their own myskin.css. You voted against, as I remember, because you "didn't get it". Hmm...did you ever happen to read Traitor? It explains it pretty well in that book, as well as the article Duel at the Well of the World Brain. That quote (and variations thereof) was used in similar context in different movies-i.e., one character heroically sacrificing himself to delay an enemy onslaught. Malachor V

Hi Sikon, I don't usually bother admins about this stuff, but I was wondering if you would be willing to weigh-in on the ongoing dispute over at the Malachor V article and its talk page. I asked Silly Dan to help moderate the discussion because it was getting out of hand and he decided to protect both pages since he was on vacation.

The dispute is about the validity of placing speculation about the True Sith in the article. The Bandsaw Vigilante continues to promote his own version of the article even though no one who has commented on the talk page (including yourself) agrees with him. He has gotten rather nasty with me, though I must admit, not entirely without provocation. I have, however, since apologized.

I and Kuralyov have collectively reverted his edits five times in the last few days and I am getting tired of dealing with the problem. The Bandsaw Vigilante continues to act as though the community, at some point, came up with some imaginary consensus supporting his views. As evidence, he points to Wookieepedia:Votes for deletion/True Sith, as though that page has any actual bearing on the discussion. In truth, he seems to believe that as long as no one bothers to debate him, he can post whatever he wants. My main rebuttal of his confrontational rants is also on his talk page.–SentryTalk 06:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

  • R2-D2 is a normal user account, operated like any other. The bot is powered by scripts on my garbage dump, [Redacted by administration] The category and replacement scripts are part of the Pywikipedia framework, which is a large, large Python script library having more features than I will possibly ever need, and the sandbox is reset by a very simple PHP script run from crontab. Male individuals

I wasn't sure where to bring this up, or if it had already been discussed, but as you created the R2-D2 bot I thought I'd ask here. WookieeProject forum

Hey, I've been trying to set up a forum-ish thing for Wookieepedia:WookieeProject The New Essential Guide to Characters, in an attempt to make our discussions more organized. However, I've been having some problems. At the moment, adding a new topic puts the topics in Category:Senate Hall as opposed to Category:WookieeProject The New Essential Guide to Characters forum. I've tried changing the "namespace", "prefix" and "category" information in the code (which I copy+pasted from the Senate Hall), but then I have to manually add the category, which is annoying. There is one small problem with what he does. I don't know whether you've noticed this, but when he goes through an article, he brings up the text to be flush with the infobox, which leaves a small gap at the start of all articles. .... 23:41, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't mean to come as a stick in the mud but...

With your new status as a bureaucrat, you might want to rethink the piracy rant on your main page. I'm not trying to argue that your wrong or anything (either way it's beside the point) as one of the higher ranking members here, you have a responsibility to keep Wookieepedia running smoothly which means, avoiding any licensing or copyright issues with you-know-who. It's probably unlikely that some rep of Lucas comes and sees it but you never know. Word travels fast. One guys sees this, he tells this guy, rep checks it out and the rest is history. If Lucas would decide to pursue a legal way to "deal with you" and being that you, as a bureaucrat, basically represent us all, they wouldn't look at the rest of us with much sympathy and might shut the site down.   • The main page header should not be visible. Splarka added code to Common.css that hides the title. If it is not hidden, that constitutes a bug, but the solution you're proposing is dirtier than Splarka's (not to mention that skin-independent code goes to MediaWiki:Common.js). Signature button

Hey Sikon. I'm toying with the idea of a custom signature, but I'd like to replace the two dashes automatically inserted by the signature button with an em dash. I'm assuming that there's no easy way to override the javascript button, requiring me to manually delete them or just type the four tildes. Userbox Container

Hi, I don't believe we have encountered each other before. I need some help with the userbox container. How do you add more than 12 userboxes in it? I currently have 12 and would like to add two more custom userboxes without removing any of the current ones. Potential fair use images problems

Are you aware that Wikipedia does not allow fair use images outside their main namespace? They apparently feel that doing so violates the legality of claiming they have a fair use right to the images. Their rule does not allow for fair use images in templates -- even if that template will never be used in another namespace.

Now here on Wookiepedia, I see most templates have a fair use image. For instance, {{redlink}} uses File:Obiwanarchives.jpg. This would be a violation of Rule #9 of the fair use rules for Wikipedia. There, we would have to remove the image ASAP.

This is kinda awkward. I was the guy blocked from Uncyclopedia, but still managed to ask for a lift on your talk page. I might seem like the ultimate vandal, but I assure you there is a logical explanation. You see, my IP Address was blocked, so I had to log in at the school library's computer under my account. It was a different IP Account, and that's how I posted it. However, I'm still begging you to lift my ban so I can edit from my home. New Icons for Main Page

I came up with some new icons for the main page. I did up a test page if you'd like to take a look. You can find it here. As it is right now: Featured Article is a lightsaber asterisk, made from all the blade colors seen in the films. Did you know is the Great Holocron. Improvement drive is the Death Star II.
