Welcome, Phant0mMenace21!
|
Hello, Phant0mMenace21, and welcome to Wookieepedia! We hope you like the place and choose to join us in building the best Star Wars encyclopedia there is. Here are some things you should know:
New to wikis? Don't worry, we were all new once. Our welcome page has everything you need to get started, and the Jundland Wastes sandbox can be used for test edits. Don't be afraid to make mistakes—be bold! I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! If you have any questions, you can consult our FAQ, ask a question in the Senate Hall forum, visit our official IRC channel, or leave me a message on my talk page. |
Hello everyone!
This is my messaging wall, feel free to message me anytime of the day (except night, cuz I'm sleeping!) I also don't mind helping people with technical issues. :)
Editing
Hello, and thanks for reaching out!
Regarding the creation of new content pages (called articles here), there's a few tips I can give you. First of all, the easiest way to gain an idea of how an article should be structured is just to take a peek at similar already existing articles. Wish to create an article on a planet? Here's an example. A character? Have a look. And so on. Here's the master category for all our in-universe articles, which you can browse until you find the category of articles you're interested in. Take a note of how these and other articles are structured, and peek at their source code, which you can copy and paste as needed.
The second place you may want to consult is our Layout Guide (it's also linked to from the welcome template above). It contains the mandatory layout for a few of the article categories, such as characters, species, planets, and others. Note that there is also a corresponding layout guide for real-world, or out-of-universe, articles.
P.S. Please always sign your comments on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of the comment.
Hope this helps, Imperators II(Talk) 12:35, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Please always sign your comments on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of the comment. Imperators II(Talk) 14:18, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- You create a section header by typing
==Section header==, like, for example,==History==. For further subsectioning, you simply add more "=" symbols.===First history subsection==etc. Imperators II(Talk) 14:20, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for the advice Imperator II! ~~Phant0mMenace21~~
- No, just put four tildes together at the very end of your comment, and it will automatically produce your signature and timestamp. Imperators II(Talk) 19:03, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- That's just a template that automatically displays your name when you visit the page. Imperators II(Talk) 10:54, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Sith Eternal Fleet
Hello. Please note that the Final Order article already covers the Sith Eternal fleet, and that the latter link is a redirect to the Final Order article. As a result, there's no need for a Sith Eternal Fleet. I suggest that you redirect your new page to Final Order and move your work from the fleet page to the Final Order article. - - -OOM 224 ༼༽{talk}༼༽ 11:45, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- To redirect a page, switch to the source editor here and replace everything on the page with
#REDIRECT [[Final Order]]

Hey there! I believe you will need to do a real overhaul of the page since it directly copies multiple sections word for word from the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary which is plagiarism, I'm sure it was not your intent but it should be changed. Also don't forget to source your edits attributable source. Let me know if you have any questions! --Lewisr (talk) 14:15, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- No worries, thank you for saying you will change it up! --Lewisr (talk) 14:20, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- The opening paragraph still needs changing up to avoid plagiarism and generally the other paragraphs too. I did remove the trooper stuff because its not too relevant to the fleet and was also largely copied from the book, and is more suited on the Sith Eternal army page --Lewisr (talk) 15:06, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- The page now exists at Final Order fleet, and yours has been redirected into that one so you don't need to worry about having it deleted or whatever, you're welcome to help expand the new page if you want --Lewisr (talk) 14:29, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Warning
Please do not add nonsense to Wookieepedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the Jundland Wastes sandbox. Thank you. Tommy-Macaroni 14:15, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Redirected
If you're going to spend four hours on something, then I suggest that you think about whether doing so is right before acting. There already is an article for Sith Eternal army, so making Sith Eternal Army is entirely unnecessary. Regarding your question, the edit history of your work is still preserved here since I made that page a redirect instead of having it deleted. - - -OOM 224 ༼༽{talk}༼༽ 14:02, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
Plagiarism and pages that already exist
Hi Jack-- please review the policy about sourcing, and follow through to the Wikipedia topic on plagiarism. Directly copying passages from another source without citation is plagiarism. On ARC-170 fighter, you included large sections of direct matches to copyrighted material. All sources must be referenced, and they shouldn't be word-for-word copies. We also already have a Canon and a Legends article on the topic of that ship, so creating a new page isn't necessary. Please make sure you check to see if a page already exists for a subject. Immora (talk) 11:27, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi again, got your message, so I'm replying here to make sure it notifies you. For citations, check out the tutorial (it's for Source Editor, not Visual). I suggest trying it out in your workbench to get comfortable with it, and looking at how other pages do it. I'm going to be blunt on this part: you said "only one paragraph is copied", but that is plagiarism. Once I see something is copied, it's hard not to assume the rest of it is, especially when nothing is attributed to a source. It's not just a Wookieepedia lesson, so please be more mindful. Warning
Thank you for contributing to Wookieepedia! Please note that at least one of your recent additions added unverified information to a mainspace article. Additions to Wookieepedia's articles must be verifiable by a reliable source per our sourcing policy, and unverified information may be reverted or deleted. Continuing to add unverified information may lead to you being blocked from editing by an administrator. Thank you. Tommy-Macaroni 11:33, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not going to block you here and now, but that may be a possibility if you don't put more care into your edits. Your addition to Elite AT-AT changed words to an incorrect spelling, added redirects, was unsourced, removed the imagecat, did not conform to the Layout Guide, and had poor grammar (including the wrong tense). Please put more effort into your edits or else you may be blocked for disruption. Thank you for your cooperation. Tommy-Macaroni 11:41, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Death Star II history
I have no idea what Death Star II history is but it has no place on the main namespace. This can all be contained here. I'm giving you a chance to move it to a subpage before I delete it. Tommy-Macaroni 14:34, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- I gave you a chance but that article has no place on this site. If you continue to make articles with no sources and which violate our policies, you will be blocked. If you need time to gather sources, use a subpage. Do not just create an unsourced page with banners telling people not to delete it. If you're having to ask people not to delete your article, then chances are it probably should be. Tommy-Macaroni 14:48, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
