Oh, well that makes sense, thanks. And would it be alright if you sourced that? I mean you don't have to, but you seem to be the one who knows what he's talking about. Oh, and welcome to Wookieepedia. By the way, here is also good link to help you get your userpage started. : ) Cm56327 02:55, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Cm56327

Starting Your Userpage

I'm sorry, it was wrong for me to assume that you already knew a bit about editing. I gave you that extra link because SFH above already gave you links to help with editing your userpage. Having the link I gave you will help you in making custom userboxes (use this link), which are popular to have on people's userpages. Take a look at Help: Editing and Wookieepedia: Editing FAQ and the other editing help articles that SFH gave you. If you still need help on editing, please tell me and I'll be glad to help you more. Also, get familiar with the controls (the icons above), which you need about to know editing. I know this is a obvious to you because you've already done some editing, but I'm just trying to give you as much help as I can. Cm56327 01:14, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Cm56327

Userpage Questions

For your first question: your userpage is fine, but if you're worried about being blocked or your account being deleted, you shouldn't be. To be blocked you must violate any of the policies, but I confident you won't. Usually people get blocked for having a hot head, unfriendly personality traits or things like that (just violating Wookieepedia policies in general), but if you are really worried about getting into trouble, which is again unlikely, check out the policies about behavior and userpages because they are pretty strict (SFH provided those for you in his greeting above).

Onto your second question, I don't think the way I, or anybody else for that matter, set up their userpage is copyrighted, so yes, of course, you can use ideas from my userpage. However, ask people about their custom userboxes before using them for your user page.

For your third question, those plus and minus numbers in red, green or grey, tell how many characters (a, &, #, 5, ;) the editor has added or subtracted from an article. +1,724 in green means the editor added 1,724 characters, -42 in red means the editor subtracted 42 characters and +0 in grey means that the editor added the same amount of characters as they deleted in an article.

And for your forth question, yes you did a very good job on your userpage. Although, I would, steer away from too much personal information (you know about the internet nowadays). I don't think you have too much personal info, but in general, just don't include stuff that could be used to track you. And again, if your confused about a policy, look it up. I don't mean to be mean or anything, but it would take a little too long to summarize each article on every policy.

About the userbox problem, insert a userboxtop template as the first template for your userboxes and a userboxbottom template as the bottom template for your userboxes, but put your actual userbox templates in the middle. If your are still confused on how to do it, press the edit button on my userpage and check out how I set it up and copy what I did (that's what I do when I'm in your position). Try not to change anything on my userpage though.

Finally, to upload a picture, click on the upload file link on the side on the website (it is in different places depending on what skin you are using) and follow the steps. Yes, that is vague and I'm sorry, but I've never uploaded a picture because I don't feel like getting yelled at for not following the policy. I usually only do minor edits. If I didn't answer any of your questions fully or if you have any more, feel free to write on my talk page. : )

  • Whoa, whoa, whoa!—it's not like it's a really big deal about being tracked because of putting too much personal info on your userpage. Your just supposed to be careful because the internet is not much of a safe place anymore. Again, it's not a really big deal. I'm really sorry I made it seem that way, so—just don't worry about it. It's bad if you put all of your personal information on your userpage (birth date, place of birth, full name, age, residency, occupation, etc.). That, is what's dangerous, but I think you're just fine. Don't worry at all. And again, I'll be happy to help if you have other questions. Have a happy New Year!  : ) Cm56327 03:54, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Cm56327

Question

So, what types of articles do you work on? Nice club by the way...-- Darth Skirata 20px (Talk) 21:21, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Short lightsabers and shotos… Response

Sorry, but I don’t think I agree with you. If short lightsabers have short hilts, then they would have short blades, even with an adjuster. The max length of a lightsaber depends on the amount of focusing crystals put in, so if a short hilt has less space for crystals, it will have a shorter blade. Also, it really depends on the crystal itself, like if it were artificially made or something like that. It’s all lightsaber mechanics. I’m not an expert on lightsaber mechanics though, I learned about it from the lightsaber article and based it all on what I grabbed from it, so I could be, and most likely are, terribly wrong. That’s my input, but you may want to also ask on the Knowledge Bank, you’ll be more likely to get a wider range of responses. If that doesn’t work, try the admins. However, don’t expect to be answered right away on any article—anywhere—ever. Many Wookieepedians have a pet peeve about whining. I'm not saying you're whining to me, just don't do it. I learned it the hard way. Cm56327 06:41, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Cm56327

  • Wait, I thought you said that short lightsabers have short hilts. Wouldn't that mean they have less space in their hilts than in regular lightsabers? Cm56327 02:08, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Cm56327
  • Well, I checked with KOTOR II and it seems that both the blade and the hilt of the short lightsaber were about 75% the length of the regular lightsaber. I don't know what that means in comparison to shoto's, but...does my observation help?--CM-56327 20px (HUD Comlink)
    • Unless there's a source that I'm unaware of, nothing in canon contradicts the idea that short lightsabers are the same as shotos. Given that it took so long for them to be named and that there's a four millennia difference between their appearances, than it's a safe bet they're basically the same thing, one possibly being the evolution of the other.--Goodwood 20px (Alliance Intelligence) 01:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Well, 75% is a number I came up with just from looking at the game. It's most likely wrong, but check it out for yourself. All I know is, from looking at the game, short lightsabers are little more than half the size of regular ones.--CM-56327 20px (HUD Comlink) 07:25, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Cm56327
  • As far as my knowledge goes about short lightsabers, I do agree with you. Again, I've never read any Star Wars book/comic that depicts a shoto, but I still agree with you. However, I wouldn't change the article just yet until you've got consensus from many other users, not just me and Goodwood. Since the shoto talk page doesn't seem very popular, I advise you to take our consensus up with the Knowledge Bank.--CM-56327 20px (HUD Comlink) 15:47, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Cm56327

Custom Signature

To make a custom signature, first go here and follow the directions. To make your custom sig, look at the code that me, Darth Skirata and Goodwood use to make our custom sig by seeing it through the edit page, thus revealing the code. Just replace your name with ours, choose your picture (it has to be in this wiki though) and there's your sig (I didn't use Star Neptune's code becuase it isn't complete). To make your sig different colors, go here for color options or just use hexadecimal codes for your own preference of color.--CM-56327 20px (HUD Comlink) 02:18, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Cm56327
