WP:TCW irc

Thanks very much for creating the IRC channel for the TCW WookieeProject. :) CC7567 20px-Rex.png (talk) 05:17, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

The new Triage system

After the Inquisitorius' most recent meeting, it was decided to enact a triage system for dealing with the large number of nominations on the FAN page. The Triage page has been set up in the Inquisitorius forum to make it easier for Inqs to see what nominations are best focused on for clearing out the nomination page. This is a tool for helping Inqs combine their efforts on articles, and shouldn't be taken as mandatory; as usual, any Inq is free to review any article they want. - Lord Hydronium 03:18, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Sep Council removal act

Why? If you have a particular apperance, please tell me. Obviously, I'm not going to mention every little "mentioned only" in the history section. If you have any objections, can you just state them in the objection section? —Lucius malfoy7 20px (Give it up for Lil' 'Soka Tano, ladies and gents!) 20:06, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Didn't know I could comment on the GAN about the removal, sorry. However: other groups, i.e. the Imperial Ruling Council, don't list every appearance of every member in the appearances, just the group as a whole. About the citations: What's wrong? In addition, if I wrote everything about every character in the bio, I'd be writing a lot about Nute Gunray or San Hill. We're specifically not supposed to do that, because people can look on that character's article for a full history. It's an article about the Separatist Council, not the first three films. —Lucius malfoy7 20px (Give it up for Lil' 'Soka Tano, ladies and gents!) 20:21, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
    • I have no stake in this one way or the other, but if I may venture my opinion: I think in a situation like the Separatist Council, where the subject is defined by being many people, it's not necessary (or accurate) to include every appearance of a Council member as being an appearance of the Council itself. I don't think we'd say the Galactic Senate appears every time Padmé shows up. That doesn't mean those sources won't contain pertinent information, though, as I think even though they aren't appearances of the Council, they still contain vital information about the Council in the form of the fate of its members. Also, mentions like Grae said. - Lord Hydronium 21:04, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Email

Hey Grae, how do you get an Email @ Wookieepedia? Thanks, man. Jonjedigrandmaster (Jedi beacon) 14:50, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Ban

Grae, could you please explain to me why I was banned from the Wookieepedia IRC channel, and for how long for? I can really see no explanation as to why I was banned, except for my presence in #skyhook. Now, I have auto-join upon invite set in my IRC preferences, or at least I did, and so when I was invited into the channel I joined. I'm not even entirely sure what this channel is. Whilst I recognize that SG1 and Madclaw have both been banned and are in this channel, I can see no reason why I was banned... Last time I checked, associating with banned members wasn't anything I could get banned for, and I don't understand why I'm banned now. If you're suggesting I was conspiring against you, I can provide logs to the contrary. I have a number of users who could back me up on the fact that I wasn't doing anything malign or malevolent, so I'd appreciate it if you could get back to me on this. Cheers. --Darth tom 20px (Imperial Intelligence) 15:18, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry, but your involvement in that "secret" channel aimed solely at maligning me and other administrators is all I needed to know. You're not blocked on the wiki, but for the time being, anyone involved in the continued harassment of me and other Wookieepedians on IRC will be banned, by me, from the Wookieepedia IRC channel. Graestan(Talk) 15:31, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Grae, I had join on invite set in my IRC preferences. If I'm invited into a channel, my account automatically joins. As I said, I didn't not choose to join this channel, nor did I know what this channel was aimed at. Have I harassed you before? No. Do I plan to? No. Do I harass Wookieepedians? No. Hell, I am a Wookieepedian. I'm appalled that, as a Wookieepedian editor with an FAN, two GANs and not a single bad faith edit I wasn't even given the chance to speak to you about it. I'm seriously considering speaking to staff about this, and I would be, by no means, the first to do so. I hope it doesn't come to that, I truly do. I hope this can be resolved without that. --Darth tom 20px (Imperial Intelligence) 15:36, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Threatening to tell on me is going to make it better? Right. What staff are you going to tell? Freenode? Wikia? And why is it that I've never heard anything from any staff about these apparent previous complaints against me? Like I said before, this has very little to do with the wiki. It's all about IRC, where believe me, I make carefully weighed choices. Until that petty threat, there, I was actually considering unbanning you from the channel on good faith, but I believe you have sealed your fate. Graestan(Talk) 15:41, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

It's not a threat, Grae. I asked to be able to discuss this with you in a cordial manner, or I might be forced to look for other means. That's not a threat. It's merely stating my intentions to settle this in a good manner. Could you please tell me what's wrong with my reasons, please? I can see no reason why I should be banned considering it's not like I chose to join the channel with malevolent intentions. --Darth tom 20px (Imperial Intelligence) 15:44, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

  • I'm not negotiating this with you. Perhaps, if you leave me alone for a while, I might consider extending good faith. Feel free to tattle on me in the meantime, for what good you think it will do. Graestan(Talk) 15:48, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

It's not "tattling" on you, Grae. What I want is for a resolved issue, not a huge great storm to blow up... --Darth tom 20px (Imperial Intelligence) 15:51, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:Problems

What do you mean? The untitled, or the quotes? I left a note on the Clone Wars WookieeProject page asking for Onaconda Farr quotes, and CC responded. —Lucius malfoy7 Talk • Reference 20:03, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

I did not edit his userpage, leave a message on his talk page, he has never contacted me, and we have never crossed paths at all when voting or contributing. I find it highly offensive that he is calling me a "whiner" and will definitely investigate further into this matter. —Lucius malfoy7 Talk • Reference 20:09, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey Grae, I have a favor to ask of you. You may have noticed CC's Cad Bane GAN, which has lots of support, but only one AC. For all that CC does for the GAN page, it'd be really nice if you could review Cad Bane, as we should try to help him get at least one of his noms to GA. You're welcome; all the comments I made, as with everyone who supported, were thoroughly deserved. I'm glad you've been elected, not only because you'll do a great job, but because I see it as a step in establishing positive change and innovation and overcoming the seeming on-site fear of it. One month already

Hello to all the members of WookieeProject: The Clone Wars! Considering the project has just been launched, we've had a great first month, taking three articles to FA status and five articles to GA status. I would like to remind you to please try to do whatever you can to help out; there are still many potential articles that can be taken up as projects, and many of you are already working very hard on them. In the next month, we have a goal to double (if not multiply even more) our current FAs and GAs, because once Season Two starts airing, there will be a ton of more articles that will require attention, and it's best if we get as many as we can out of the way now. Thank you for contributing!

You may just be a guest editor, but as you're still member, I'm obligated to leave you one. :P CC7567 (talk) 20:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:e-mail

Hey Graestan. Thanks for sending me that e-mail; it was pretty much what I was looking for. I think that it could be something rather exciting, but I would need to see put into practice once or twice before I would be satisfied on that point. Anyway, maybe I'll catch up with you on IRC soon, and we could talk about it further. Cylka-talk- 11:01, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey Graestan. I have set-up two trials for the subpage system on Darth Nihilus and Ordo Skirata. Their entries on the GAN have been modified and per Tope's suggestion I put an extra "Please leave further objections here" for those who may be unaware. Their subpages can be found here and here. OK, no problem. Well, I'm working on Revan's second search for the Star Forge, with NaruHina. I'm basing it on the work that I did on the Jedi Exile's article. I'd appreciate it if you could help me with this. Here's my sub-page on Revan. Also, could you add Malak and Bandon's names to this list here? Thanks.--Jedi Kasra (talk) 14:16, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Adminship

I normally wouldn't be pushing anyone to get me admin rights, but... I will gratefully appreciate it if you would maybe look at my contributions and consider nominating me for admin rights. I've been here since Wookieepedia began in 2005, and I laid the groundwork for MANY different good/featured articles, and have probably over 5,000 edits with my two accounts, DjMack and Bly1993. I'm completely familiar with how the site works, and I'm an admin over at the Zelda Wiki. My contributions. DjMack 23:36, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

INQCON

The new INQCON system is now in effect. For details on this new tool, please review the linked page. It is requested that you check any current featured article nominations that you have fully read and are currently objecting to, and change the respective INQCON number on the nomination if you are intending to ultimately support the article once your objections have been resolved. Also, please remember to change the Triage page when altering INQCON numbers. Any queries about the process can be made on the afore-linked INQCON page. Thanks, Thefourdotelipsis 00:44, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

TC results

In the two recent TC threads that you started I voted for deletion, but noted that the content in question should actually be merged into the related article. I did that because after you closed the Forum:TC:British Made, the article was deleted almost right away, while the IT-0 article remained the same. I already had the text in my editing window, so I was able to complete the merge, but that leaves me wondering if the "consensus: merge" article can be just deleted without the actual preservation of the information. Just though I'd let you know. MauserComlink 18:05, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

  • I just noted in both instances that mentions of the subject I was deleting were already present in the articles they were to be merged to, so I figured it was enough. In the future, feel free to carry the merges out to your own satisfaction before the deletion decision is made if you wish certain portions of the information to be represented. Sure, IT-O remained the same. That's because it already mentioned "British Made" minus all the extraneous information. Graestan(Talk) 19:01, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Shadow War Chronicles

I am kind of pressed for time, so I did a quick and dirty merge of the articles in question, but they will probably need some supplemental touching-up. jSarek 01:23, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Your advice for me on improving articles, your crucial instructions for reviewing articles, and everything else you have done here to provide assistance for me has been simply invaluable.

I know I've already said it, but thanks again for being my gardener, Grae. But in all seriousness, you have helped me out so much here, and privileged me with so much wisdom and guidance, it would seem to be a crime for me not to present you with this award. • Speculation. Graestan(Talk) 13:01, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
    • How is it, why is it, speculation? That Brianna followed the Exile is canon. A recent preview for the upcoming Star Wars Miniatures Knights of the Old Republic set confirmed that Brianna did indeed accompany the Exile. Brianna's page says the exact same thing as I edited on the Exile's page. The Dun Möch part is in the game. The Darth Sion page, the Dun Möch page and the Kreia page says, once agin, exactly the same thing as I added on the Exile's page. Why do you think it is speculation? • Please point to me where a verifiable source says that it was a "sort of reverse Dun Möch," and I'll stop taking whatever it is that makes me think it's highly unlikely. In the meantime, it's fanon. Graestan(Talk) 22:23, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I have no source except for the game itself, although I do believe it was mentioned in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, I'm not sure though. Anyway, it has been on the Dun Möch page since the fifth september 2007, and never has any issue been made.
P. S. I wrote a 'kind of inverse', not sort of reverse, but I might agree that it's not the best language on an encyclopedia, but as my name suggests, english isn't my mothertounge. Swedish guy 04:52, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

TOTJ and KOTOR Wookieeproject

Hello Graestan. I'm hoping to join the WookieeProjects about TOTJ and KOTOR (I know you're a member of TOTJ, I'm not sure about KOTOR) and I'm wondering what I have to do to become a part of it. Is it just a matter of working on those articles (as listed on the WookieeProject page) and putting my name on the project list? Or are there some specific criteria I must meet before I can be a part of this? I loved the TOTJ comics (though I don't own the Companion) and the KOTOR comics (though my computer never ran the games, I do have all issues, will soon be buying the Handbook, and own the KOTOR Campaign Guide). Please advise me on my talk page. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith 17:32, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

I, Grunny, present to you, Graestan the Mighty, Merciless, and Wise, the Master and Apprentice Award, for all the help, advice, and friendship you have given me during my time on the site. Your guidance allowed me to develop as a user, and you supported me when I first started to become more active on the Wook. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support you have given me, and I know I would not be where I am right now without you. Thank you again, Grae :-). Grunny (Talk) 15:01, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

WP:TCW again

Hey Graestan. As project head for WP:TCW, I'm trying to get a better idea of who's still interested in participating in our project. If you're still interested in participating, please leave a note on my talk page or contact me in IRC. If you do not respond within a week, I will assume that you are no longer interested in participating. That doesn't mean that your name will be removed from the "Participants" list, but it means that any of your current projects will be removed from the project page so that others have a chance to work on them. Likewise, if you currently have any projects under your belt, I highly encourage you to review them, and if you don't plan on working on them within the next two or three weeks, I recommend reconsidering them. Thanks. Your project head, CC7567 (talk) 05:47, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Grae. I never got the chance to say thanks for getting the Xim's father reference from the CSWE; my IRC connection was a delayed-action thing, where I typed something and saw it onscreen like twenty seconds later. Largest battleships and special weapons platforms

IMHO, this page was needed as a redirect for the fanon Loronar battleship and Rendili battleship pages: no canon source is cited for Loronar/Rendili constructing specific battleship designs, rather than their already-known space stations and/or other designers' SSD types. I agree my original BtS could be rephrased in a less POV-y way, mind you... --McEwok 17:43, 20 July 2009 (UTC) ... and with that in mind, I've placed a slightly saner draft here. --McEwok 17:58, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Comments

Yeah, I realized after I posted it that it sounded a bit...snippy...hence its removal. I actually was unsure of the article content, and was merely trying to figure out if the repetition was accidental or intended. I actually think I changed it in the article first, but then wanted to ask if someone could explain to me why it was written the way it was. As a matter of fact, I was wrong and the word repetition was intended and had a purpose: the game board for firepath was laid out in a rank and file system of rings, with calls of both rank and file being made to define a position on the board. I changed it back and removed my comments post. If I had a little more dregs in my coffee at the time, I would have done it differently. I'll be more careful in the future. FAN

Grae, the objections you posted for Fang Zar were addressed the day after they were made. It's now been about 7 weeks, and they've still sat unstricken. Please either strike them or tell me why my responces are insufficient. Darth Trayus 30px (Trayus Academy) 02:03, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

  • I would like to note that there are still 5 other objections that you've made that have been addressed. Please, take a look at those as well as the one you claim is unaddressed. And I believe I speak for several other nominators when I say that a little civility is always appreciated. Darth Trayus 30px (Trayus Academy) 06:29, September 30, 2009 (UTC)
      1. Read the top of this page. I mean that.
      2. Don't expect me to strike any objections if you haven't fixed them all; there will still be objections if they're not all fixed, so it doesn't matter if I strike the ones that are.
      3. Civility sometimes has to take a backseat when the nominators get pushy and forget that they actually need to do the work in order for the articles to be passed. And believe me, I have not been uncivil yet. The only reason I am not treating these user talk messages as harassment is that I know where you've been, well, only to a point: I tend not to be bothered by sitting objections unless they are actually fixed. Aww

Hi Graestan! Aww, i was a little disappointed that i was only given 1 week notice for removal of sysops, considering that under the original six month rule, admins are given a "attempt at communication" at 4 months, and another warning at 5 months -- 2 months notice. I wasn't even aware of the new mainspace edit rule until now - i misread your message last week thinking you were talking about the original rule (i figured it was my 4 month warning or something). Is there any chance you can be lenient and give me an extra week to fulfill the 50 edit requirement? I really love Wookieepedia and would like to remain an admin, and am planning to contribute more often and be more active in admin duties. Sorry to be a pain. Thanks. --Azizlight 02:40, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Timeline of the Clone Wars

Why did you eliminate the Timeline of the Clone Wars page? That had very good information. - User: Pufferex Coleman

Deleterevision

Hey Graestan. The bureaucrat group will soon have a new right added to it on Wookieepedia, deleterevision. This allows us to hide revisions from public view. This should only be used to hide inappropriate or offensive material such as particularly vulgar username creations, usernames revealing users real names, edits revealing real names or posting real-life images of user, and copyright violations where the page history is too big to restore revisions individually. On page histories and in logs you will see a (show/hide) button on the left hand side, which will look something like this:

(show/hide) 04:04, December 8, 2009 Grunny (Talk | contribs | block) m (9,714 bytes)

Use common sense when it comes to this tool as to when it should be used, as misuse will result in the right being removed and the wrath of sannse :P. Cheers, Grunny (Talk) 04:47, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

  • Okay, the right has now been added so you should start seeing the (show/hide) button in histories, diffs and logs :). Cheers, Grunny (Talk) 22:37, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

well a lot of the redirects are extraneous then since the article is in the first few results if you search for it anyway, for example Executor-class goes to Executor-class Star Dreadnaught but the search has it in the first hit. ASDF123920px|-DISCUSSION- 00:39, March 22, 2010 (UTC)

if i knew they were detrimental, do you think i would have made them? stop attacking strawmen. ASDF123920px|-DISCUSSION- 01:21, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
you are attacking strawmen because of your assumption that i intentionally disregarded the warning and made "detrimental" edits. therefore it's funny that you're telling me to keep my accusations to myself. your "further enunciation" could have been made with one edit summary. please don't talk down to me, i understood very well the meaning of the sentence and i felt the new one was better. ASDF123920px|-DISCUSSION- 01:33, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
  • There have been a couple of instances where the search function has failed to work as it should, i.e. when you search for someone's first name and it doesn't come up with the article. That's why I feel first/last name redirects are useful. -LtNOWIS 00:40, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
