Re: Sykes

Hi! The simple answer to your question is this: no, there never be both a Canon banner and a Legends banner on the same page. The complicated answer is this. The tweet that you linked me is from 2012, which means that we consider it "Canon with the continuity of Star Wars Legends." In April of last year, Disney declared that the only material released prior to that date which was still considered canon was material from the original six films, the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film and the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, along with a very limited number of other things, such as the old Encyclopedia on the website. Anything else, including old tweets saying something is canon, is now part of Star Wars Legends, because it was considered canon at the time, but it isn't anymore. Regarding the banners - Legends gets its own banner and canon gets a different one, and tab if the page has a canon counterpart, but only if somebody has created the canon counterpart. You can read more about this at our FAQ, our page regarding Star Wars Legends and regarding canon. If you still have questions after that, you're welcome to ask. • Thanks for the response. I understand what you mean. But I think there's an interesting/unique overlap here. For simplicity let's say the Leland Chee tweet never happened. Let's even ignore Star Wars magazines A and B, even though they say things like "In The Phantom Menace ... Lt. Gavyn Sykes" and "Simpson played Gavyn Sykes in Episode I." Let's focus only on "the original six films" as you say. Honing into that, Sykes appears in George Lucas's Episode I. We know this because there are photos of him in several places, not least the Wikia page in question. Therefore how are we concluding that "Sykes" as a whole is only "Legends" and not also "Canon", when he's in the canon? Hope you agree it's an interesting one. I feel a great solution would be to have a banner above each section of the same page (without being messy by splitting it up into different pages that are essentially about one character), so that one section is Legends (about the video game events), and the next section can be canon (about the movie events, in this case the space battle), but all for one character. Thanks in advance for your consideration.--DeArthus (talk) 06:11, March 14, 2015 (UTC)
    • From seeing this conversation, the simple answer is, while the character is canon, his name is not canon as far as I can tell. And yes, if he gets a canon name, there do need to be separate articles. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 17:28, March 14, 2015 (UTC)
