Infobox

Thanks for adding an infobox to Compton. However, infoboxes must include all parameters (see the fix), even if you don't add anything in them. Doing otherwise will tag the page with a maintenance category. Also note that infoboxes are to be referenced like any other part of an article, with <ref></ref>. --NanoLuukeCloning facility 19:25, August 25, 2020 (UTC)

Telsij image

Please specify the source from which you acquired this image. Simply typing "Lucasfilm" doesn't help anyone. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 10:48, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

  • Well, the image was provided by Leland Chee during his interview with Steve Haruch, and the image was originally from the LucasFilm archives.Dat1899 (talk) 10:50, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
    • That is not publicly available. You clearly acquired this image from somewhere, and you need to list that as the source. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 20:07, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
      • Very well.Dat1899 (talk) 20:08, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Backup links

You have not provided backup links, which is required per Sourcing policy, for the Aveleyman links on Timothy Sinclair and Eiji Kusuhara. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 20:10, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Edits

Per Policy every single external link needs to have a backup link. For that reason please use the {{Twitter}}, {{Facebook}} and {{WebCite}} templates. Please, go back to your edits in the Keyan Farlander article and format them correctly. Thanks--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 08:27, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

  • You still need to use the appropiate templates, please modify your edits. Thanks--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 09:51, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
    • Hello. There's several issues with your edits. First, All categories need to be inside the template for the images, not outside. Please go ahead and rectify that mistake. Second, I remind you to use the templates for all your external links. Lastly, this is your final warning regarding archive links every single external link both in articles and images need to have an archive link, please archive your edits. This is also a reminder to research what its considered a source, because Pinterest is not one--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 01:21, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
      • I was gonna do all of those things anyway. I'll rectify my edits, but just so you know, it will take while.Dat1899 (talk) 06:48, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Images

Can I ask why you are substituting film images on canon articles with ones of your own? The previous images all came from the film itself, but yours appear to be lower quality. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 11:02, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

  • Well, i saw JMM putting up new images for Canon characters like Dorovio Bold, Palso Thern etc. And i decided to do the same thing. I don't know why my images came out the way they did, likely because of the snipping tool i used Unsigned comment by Dat1899 (talk • contribs)
    • If you're unable to provide a higher quality image than the one currently on the page, it's better to refrain from adding your image. Also, please make sure to add categories to your images, per our Image policy. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 11:13, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Siward Cass

Can you provide the page where you got this image from? You have only listed the homepage as the source, which doesn't have the image in it. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 06:13, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

  • Very well, if i have to. I must say, although i leave archive links whenever i upload an image, it seems dozens of hundreds of images don't have an archive link and a reliable source, yet are still used in articles.Dat1899 (talk) 09:01, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
    • Thank you. Can you provide an example of an image without such a source? UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 09:29, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
      • I recall seeing an image of Wedge Antilles without a good source, but i can't seem to find it now, i assume it has been taken down. As for images without archive links, there are literally countless examples. I would make archive links for all of them if i could, as well as backup links for the websites they originated from. But i simply don't have enough time to do that. But i'll still do what i can.Dat1899 (talk) 09:47, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
        • If you're talking about naked links (links not formatted into a template), you're right. There are many files with them since there's currently no way to track them. If you see any of these files, feel free to add backups to them. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 11:33, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Uploading images

When uploading files, please make sure to

  • Properly categorize your uploads. Right now all your uploads end up in various maintenance categories.
  • Use lowercase file extensions, i.e. .png instead of .PNG, as per Wookieepedia:Images#Filenames.

Thanks! 1358 (Talk) 20:22, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

  • I'm afraid I can't do that, since the image is from a Facebook group. And the owner strictly told me not to share links.--Dat1899 (talk) 14:11, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
    • Can you at least provide a link to the group? UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 14:16, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

  • Just to reiterate Shay's message here, the uploaded image is currently in violation of our Image policy, and will be deleted unless an adequate source can be provided. This means either a live link or a backup link to the group, or of the individual who posted the image. I recommend looking at {{Facebook}} to help with this. If the owner doesn't want this link shared, then you'll need to ask the original poster where they got the image from, or try a google image search to find an alternative source. Thanks. • Does this work? File:HavordInANH.png.--Dat1899 (talk) 16:34, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
        • If the source is just "some guy on Facebook," then I'm afraid it's not a reliable source. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 07:44, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
          • Shay is correct, the current source really isn't suitable since there isn't a link to a page where the image was originally posted (Wookieepedia doesn't not count). As I said earlier, you'll probably need to ask this guy where he got the image from in the first place or run a google image search to find an alternative source. Tommy-Macaroni 08:22, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
            • All he told me was that the image was from a Japanese Press Still. I cannot find any copies on Google.--Dat1899 (talk) 14:02, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Rebel Combat Speeder

Hi, your assumption is correct in the context of Battlefront. However, the vehicle also appears in Galactic Battlegrounds. That speeder can be built during the Battle in the Silken Asteroids mission that takes place during the early days of the Galactic Civil War. Best, Hk 47 (talk) 09:32, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Image sourcing

Hi Dat! When sourcing an image (like this one), please use an archive of the web page where it's from, preferably in a citation template. A simple archive of the image itself wont do because it doesn't really inform about the source itself. Thanks. NanoLuukeCloning facility 10:39, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Hello, sorry, but right now there is not much I can do. The original page where the image originates from has been taken down, and I don't think there are any archives, so this is the best we have i think.--Dat1899 (talk) 15:35, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Fansites

Please be careful with the sources you are using for acting credits, as fansites like Moviedude have questionable accuracy. Said site for example is run by a single user, and thus, the claims they make will be biased. On the Discord server, we are currently discussing how to handle this situation, as crowdsourced sites like this will always be questionable. As I pointed out to you before, literally anyone can come out and make such a claim on a random site, so we cannot just throw in an "according to this fansite" and be done with it, since there will be no limit to what can be cited. Hope this makes sense. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 12:52, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

    • I usually double check the information provided by the fansites, if I can. I do not source everything from them. For example, I made an exception with three articles I recently made. Stenson Falke, David Eynon and Jay Roberts. Jay Roberts' credit comes from the now defunct website "Convention Guests", and I am convinced that his credit was provided by a fellow actor, who told ConGuests' administrators that there was indeed a Jay Roberts who worked on the film. I believe this is the case because they often interviewed actors who worked on the original trilogy, and other credit's on their 'More Star Wars' page, specifically the obituary, I believe has information that comes from those actors. Furthermore, Kenneth Coombs, who has been a great help to me, has provided an image of Jay Roberts, and I'd say the image he sent me, and the officer from ROTJ credited as Roberts are the same person. So looks wise, it is Jay Roberts I'd say, and as for official confirmation, I think that in this case, Conguests can be trusted.

As for Stenson Falke and David Eynon, I have been searching for official confirmation on these actors for a very long time. Pretty much everything points to them being in ANH, especially looks and other images from other television shows and films from around the time. the only thing missing is what I used to call "official confirmation". However, I made an exception here since, I believe, the images are in this case enough to confirm their presence. Remember that I do intensive research on all of these actors.

It seems the main issue with the Wookieepedia and official confirmation thing is the general oblast that OOU stuff is placed in. Nobody took as big of an interest in actors here as I did, but I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying that, knowing all of these actors, and the various methods of confirmation, etc. etc. I think I can determine what can be used as a source and what cannot be used as a soruce. I do not take these things for granted. I know MovieDude well, and although he runs the website, he communicates with several other film enthusiasts, who provide him with sources and images, and I know who these people are, and I am/was contact with some of them, and they know a lot better than I do when it comes to actor confirmation etc.

It seems the Wook isn't willing to go that far, and prefers to keep to its own rules. It seems the biggest confirmation Wookieepedia can provide is an official statement from a Star Wars official, like Leland Chee for example, or any Star wars video or website, as long as its officially tied to people who are in some way linked to official Star wars content. Now, In my opinion, that is biased. I have seen several cases where Wookieepedia uses sources form Star wars Promotional videos on OOU actor articles, e.g. Andy Bradford, Yohan Beer. In my opinion, I'd say these credit's are directly taken from Imdb, which is, more often than not, a very bad source. However, since its an official Star Wars video, from an official channel, it seems as if it can be taken for granted. No double-checking, no research, as long as its Star Wars, we can roll. But that's not right. Thus, Wookieepedia is hesitant to use sources from any place that isn't in some way tied to Star Wars, but don't quote me on that, I could be wrong. I see a lot of people praising the late J.W.Rinzler for his fantastic work on the making of books. Don't get me wrong, he did a very good job, but the books aren't perfect either, e.g. Constantin De Goguel credited as Daine Jir. Again, perhaps Rinzler didn't know it was in fact Al Lampert and went with the info he had, but again, it seems people are willing to go easy on these books because they are written by somebody who is tied to Star Wars.

I will admit this, Aveleyman and Moviedude do have some issues, issues that I'm well aware of, and stay clear of using as sources. But at times, they can be more accurate than official OOU Star wars media that discusses behind the scene information. Overall, the things I use as sources, I do intense research on, and I'd say I have enough knowledge about these things, these actors, these people, to know what's true, and what's dodgy and should not be taken for granted.

That's all I want to say.---Dat1899 (talk) 09:28, 10 July 2022 (UTC)

  • First of all, sources like Leland Chee come directly from Lucasfilm and have access to internal materials that have not been made public, therefore is strong credibility to any statement they put out. If we start casting doubt there too, that throws everything else on this wiki into doubt as well. We have to draw a line somewhere in the end.
