Galaxies articles.

Hey Olioster. It's great that you have been creating new Galaxies articles, however, there are some things I would like to bring to your attention. I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but when it comes to video games, if a NPC's appearance changes during different gameplays, then any image you find is not canon, and therefore it can't be used as the infobox image. Only canon images can be placed there. You also want to make sure that you are using the correct infobox template. If the individuals are Sith, then the Sith character infobox would be appropriate. I also wanted to add that if a character's appearance is the same as the source, then you don't list it as a source, since it's kind of self-evident that's where you would get your information from. Also, with sources, only canon works can be used as sources. The web site link you added could be put into an external links section. I guess the last thing I wanted to point out was that the only time something is bolded in an article is the title (as long as it's not conjectural) at the beginning of the article. Anyway, I hope that this will help you in your editing, and if you have any questions, leave me a message. Thanks. Cylka-talk- 06:55, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Great job with the articles! I know that there are quite a few policies when it come to editing here on Wookieepedia, and it's hard to remember them all, especially since they have changed quite a bit since you first registered. Don't be too stressed about them. After all, we're here to fix things that others may have missed. I was actually thinking about those images you uploaded, and if you like, you could fit them into the Bts, with the explanation that you had earlier. It would give some more background to the characters. Cylka-talk- 15:00, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
    • Yes, I think that could work. As far as I remember, you had stated that the clothing stays the same, only the actual physical appearance changes. If that is the case, you could add in a small image, maybe 150 px, or so. If you want, add them in and then let me know, and I can play around with the layout a bit to make sure that they fit well enough. Cylka-talk- 21:18, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
    • That definitely works, and adds a nice touch to the articles. Cylka-talk- 21:25, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Aa'kuans

It's just about another rule that exists here: between two articles about the same subject the older one is always going to be kept and the new one is going to be redirected after all content is merged. I'd also like to point then when you redirected the old article, some inforamtion in Sources section was going to be lost, but it's okay now. MauserComlink 11:44, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Rryatt Trail

Hey, I think you should try to GA that article. I'd brush up on the GA rules as you work on it, and try to sort out what information comes from which source. It should be pretty easy, as long as you source it correctly. Graestan(Talk) 01:35, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Exar Kun heroic

Hello, Olioster. I see that you have created articles for several bosses from the SWG Exar Kun heroic, such as Caretaker of the Lost Souls and The Minder of Weak Wills. I need to know if there are any other Dark Side minions in the encounter, such as: Embraced Chaos, Exar Kun Wordbearer, Lingering Harmony, Promised Vengeance, The Executioner or Unquenchable Wrath. Those are all opponent that appear in the SWG TCG version of the heroic, alongside the Minder and the Caretaker. I need to know if they appear in SWG as well before I create articles for them. CT wording tweak

Hi! Just letting you know that the wording of a ct you've recently voted in has changed slightly. It went from 'If a droid has gender-specific programming, refer to them as "he" or "she" rather than "it".' to 'If a droid has gender-specific programming and is predominantly referred to as "he" or "she" in canon, refer to them as "he" or "she" rather than "it".' "A song by Jeremy Messersmith is called after the planet and states its twin suns."

  • Why did you delete this from the Behind the Scenes section on the Tatooine article? I don't see anything, that stands against stating the use of the planet's name as the song title. It happened for Alderaan as well with "Californication" of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Don't see the difference... --Chimealheltei 23:00, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

RE: RE: "A song by Jeremy Messersmith is called after the planet and states its twin suns."

  • Don't see, why this is against the trivia policy: It is a fact worth noting, that's what the Behind the Scenes section is for. THat these sentences are all very short and isolated is because of the fact, that the facts don't have any connection with each other except they're all connected to Tatooine. Even if the policy stands against it, it's not proposed to just delete these things, if you read carefully. Would be nice to integrate the fact again. If you still mind: Try to interconnect with other trivia facts, but please don't just delete FACTS. Thanks. --Chimealheltei 23:23, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Sith diplomat

Hey Oli. The article looks good, however, there a just a couple of things that you need to do. The date 3,956 BBY can't be sourced to the game. You can either use the The New Essential Chronology or the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide for the date. Since you are creating a reflist, the whole article should be sourced. I also removed mentions of Revan revisiting the planet since that would require more context. I would simply add in that Revan was a Republic soldier. Let me know if you have any questions. Archiving nominations

Hello. Two things:

  1. When you remove a nomination from CAN for any reason, as you did with Unidentified Sith diplomat, please properly archive it according to these instructions. I took care of that in this instance, but please be aware of this in the future. If you're not sure how to archive it, simply place a note on the nomination instead of removing it yourself, and someone else will come by and archive it for you.
  2. When you nominate an article for any status, it would be appreciated if you would note "FAnom", "CAnom", or something to that effect in the edit summary of the edit in which you add the nomination tag to the article, as whoever eventually archives the nomination must locate that revision.

Thanks. :) Master Jonathan 20px (Jedi Council Chambers) 03:45, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

  • One other, unrelated thing: your workbench is currently showing up in several article categories. Please remove it from those categories; you can do this by placing nowiki tags around {{Conjecture}} and prefixing the category links with a colon. Thanks. Master Jonathan 20px (Jedi Council Chambers) 03:48, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I believe you just sent be a message about how I cannot take information off of MY OWN page. I am wondering why this is? Is it because of WHAT is on my pages and that it must follow me everywhere or is it a general thing, because FYI this is why I stopped contributing or saying anything at all is because you all have so many rules and regulations and are so strict that it is like, What can I write or ask without there being somebody, somewhere taking offense? I am getting rather frustrated. I was trying to erase those so I could talk to new people who would not be holding me to my argument with someone who habitually erased my edits with no actual proof that they were wrong. Echrhin Isdan

Hey, Olioster! I have a quick question about the Galaxies character Echrhin Isdan. First of all, does this transcript from the game seem accurate? If so, we should classify Isdan as a male. Second of all, how tall is Isdan in the game? I know it's impossible to give an exact measure in meters, but does he seem to be short, like Morag? Or is he the same height as the PC? Thanks for any help! ~ SavageBob 04:39, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

Re: that long name :P

That's actually kind of…odd. Is that part of the source written from an IU perspective? Even if that is the case, the problem is that by saying "unidentified" in in-universe prose we're actually saying that no one knew who he was, which I find highly unlikely. Unless you specify to whom exactly he was unidentified (for one example: the Yuuzhan Vong could be said to be "an unidentified species to the majority of the galaxy at the time of their arrival"), it's speculative/OOU wording. Re:Vakasi

Sure, I'm happy to assist. I did a copy-edit and this is what I found

  • I already fixed this, but you had a redirect for Rage of the Wookiees in the Appearances list. You should make special note of this for your future noms.
  • In the History section, "However, a' spacer was given one of these fighters after they assisted the Civilian Protection Guild on the planet Kashyyyk with the recapture of a CR90 corvette in 1.5 ABY." I believe you are trying to refer to a single spacer here. If so, please correct the sentence.
  • The one sentence in the Role section is a bit awkward. I would suggest changing it around to make it read smoother.
  • I would refer to the spacer in the History section as being a freelancer.
  • That's all I have. Kilson Likes PIE(The Bakery) 21:01, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
    • Sorry, I was unaware of this. Thanks for telling me. When you nom the article, I'll support.Kilson(Let's have a chat) 10:41, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Lobarorr

OK, this is what I found:

  • In the intro, "...jealous of Takook's spear, a Kashyyyk bladestick that belonged to his father Chatook." I would replace his with Takook's to make the sentence clearer.
  • I would mention in the intro that the spacer was "hired by a concerned Chatook" or something similar.
  • I don't believe you need the last sentence of the intro, as it really deals more with Chatook that Lobarorr, but it's up to you.
  • "...including that they were heading towards the Rryatt Trail." Elaborate on "they" to make the sentence clearer.
  • "During his search, the spacer..." I think you know what's wrong here.
  • "Takook had recorded it before his death and in it, he pleaded with whomever found it to find Lobarorr and retrieve his father's spear. Takook felt that letting Lobarorr keep it would be a dishonor to him." You can probably combine these two sentences to make it read smoother.
  • "Chatook asked the spacer to leave him to his despair, which they did." Once again, a little unnecessary, but up to you.
  • And that's all I have. After you correct these, I'll support the article when you nom it. As usual, nice job. Kilson(Let's have a chat) 10:59, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Barn-burner: Halfway home

Hey there, Olioster.

thumb|left|150px|Have some Wookiee-ookiees. I want to thank you for your efforts so far during Wookieepedia's first barn-burner. This is a not-so-personal message that's being sent out to every participant, but rest assured that everybody affiliated with this project deserves the highest praise. I've been very pleased with the number of users who have been writing, nominating, and reviewing Wookiees and Wookiee-related articles this month. Awesome job, all of you.

We're a little past the halfway mark, and at this point, I'd like to encourage everybody to focus their efforts on reviewing. Many users have been reviewing a lot already, and yes, you're absolutely welcome and encouraged to continue writing and nominating articles at this point. I just want to encourage everyone to take some time and help out others, which was one of the original purposes of this project. Additionally, the more reviewing that we all participate in, the more articles we can see promoted before the end of the month. Anything promoted after the end of May will still count as being part of the barn-burner, but it would be cool to get as much through as we can before then.

We have a list of current nominations for handy reference. If you feel inclined, find some that tickle your fancy and go nuts. Thanks again for all of your hard work. Cheers. Menkooroo 06:58, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

The Dathomir quarantine

Hey Oli, I know you're a go-to guy for SWG information, so I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm looking for any information you can offer regarding the updated content released about a year or more ago. Specifically, I was hoping you could provide some information on the Death Troopers content on Dathomir, such as the story behind the quarantine, Dr. Zahara Cody's and Trig Longo's actions during the game, and any missions the player character undertakes in the zone. There's no major rush, but if you could give me whatever information you can when you have the chance, it would be much appreciated. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 08:25, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

concerning the origins and naming of hoth, it you read "Darth Bane, Path of Destruction" and "Darth Bane, Rule of Two". they talk about the hoth system being the way it is as after effects of the thought bomb and after that was named for Jedi Master, General Hoth. this for some reason isnt taken into account it the history of the system listed on this site.

Sure, I would be happy to look over the article. I can probably get to it sometime tonight, or if not, I can look it over tomorrow.--Exiled Jedi 20px (Greetings) 22:50, May 17, 2012 (UTC)

  • I was wondering how the battle was mentioned in the Trading Card Game, and I don't see that you mentioned it. It seems to me that you should at least mention the TCG scenario in the BTS. Unfortunately, I do not have the beginning or ending scenario information, but I do have the images of all the cards. (Note: They are all from "Squadrons over Corellia", which is the set that the encounter/scenario took place in.)
  • The "Tusken King" avatar card says that "The Sand People are raging due your theft of their relics. They are slaughtering everyone in Mos Espa."
  • I believe the following cards from the Squadrons of Corellia set can be said to picture the Battle of Mos Espa: "Army of Tuskens", (Tuskens charging into the city) "Tusken Berserker", (A Tusken fighting in a cantina), "Tusken Bantha" (Banthas attacking people), and "Tusken Fury" (Tuskens charging into the city at a group of fleeing people).
  • The "Mos Espa Medic" card actually mentions the battle, but does not picture it. From this card you can say that there were medics participating in the battle. The "Mos Espa Militia" card indirectly mentions the battle.
  • The following cards picture Tuskens in or around a city that looks like Mos Espa. They are not actively fighting, but since they were used in the scenario I believe they should count. The cards are "Tusken Honor Guard" (A Tusken standing outside of the city with a gun), "Tusken Hunter" (He's planting a flag or something or that sort), "Tusken Massiff" (A Tusken with two massiffs inside of the city), Tusken Raid Leader (Some Tuskens in Mos Espa), "Tusken Savage" (A Tusken in Mos Espa), and "Tusken Sniper" (A Tusken pointing a rifle at people in Mos Espa). I'm not sure if these actually picture the battle, but they are pretty close. Probably count as indirect mentions or pictured onlys. "Savage Attackers" (The second picture in the article) and "Tusken Raider" (A Tusken about to strike a Human, I think?) might be considered to picture the battle since there is fighting pictured and they were used for the encounter.
  • I can't think of anything to add from the galaxies portion of the information, but if you can locate any applicable quotes it would be great. Perhaps, Starsider could get you a quote or two. Getting him to look it over would be good if he has the time. He might notice something that I have missed. Good work with this article.--Exiled Jedi 20px (Greetings) 03:48, May 18, 2012 (UTC)

Galactic Showcases

Hello Olioster. I see you knew SW Galaxies very well, so I tink you'll be able to answer my question. I came across various "Galactic Showcases" on the Internet, and I was wondering if their content was anything canonical or sheer player-made fanon. I've tried to figure out by myself, but SWG data is something of a mess since the game ended. Thanks in advance. ;-) --LelalMekha 15:50, May 20, 2012 (UTC)

  • I see. Thank you for your quick answers anyway. Things are better like that--the Showcases content was way too outlandish sometimes. Oh, by the way, I've found something that may be of interest to you, if you don't already know it. I came across the webpage[1] of Jason Temujin Minor, who was Character Lead and eventually Art Director of Galaxies. If you look in his portfolio, you'll a pair of great 3D renders. It's a shame thay are non-canon, for some of them could have been useful. --LelalMekha 16:01, May 20, 2012 (UTC)

Painting articles (different names?)

Hi.

I didn't know that the Endor landscape painting and the Emerging Star paintings were already in existence, and I had to base the content of the articles on the SWGwiki. So anyways, are any of the other painting articles (eg, Multi-Painting, Forces Under Siege, Victory of the Rebel Alliance, Triumph of the Galactic Empire, Portrait of Axkva Min, VICTORY, Valley view, Advertisement, and Rodian advertisement) duplicates? Also, which ones in the game have different names on this site from the SWGwiki? I especially need to know the answer to the latter because I based the names from the names of the paintings/portraits/posters on that site. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 01:20, June 30, 2012 (UTC)

WP:VG one year anniversary

1313RakJaren-SWcom
WookieeProject Video Games has completed its first year!
A year ago today, WookieeProject Video Games was founded. Although it started out rather small, it quickly grew to be currently one of the most productive WookieeProjects. In that year, WookieeProject Video Games has seen seven Featured articles, thirty-four Good articles, and sixty-five Comprehensive articles passed, a very impressive amount especially for such a short time.

WP:VG was founded by Cal Jedi on July 8, 2011 with a mission "to improve...video game articles and bring them up to date" and also to "bring all related articles to Featured article status, Good article status, and Comprehensive article status." WP:VG has answered the call to the best of its ability. Five days after its formation, Exiledjedi joined the Project. More and more users began joining, until now, the project has eleven members. On July 26, 2011, the Project gained its first Comprehensive article, Unidentified Bakuran astromech droid, taken to status by Cal Jedi. Shortly thereafter, WP:VG's first Good article, J'Meeb Gumb, was taken to status by Exiledjedi on August 17, 2011. WP:VG's first Featured article, Battle of Kessel (0 ABY), was brought to status on October 19, 2011 by a guest nominator, Kilson.

WP:VG has associated with many other WookieeProjects—such as WookieeProject The Old Republic, WookieeProject Knights of the Old Republic, WookieeProject Galaxies, and others—helping each other bring articles to status. Overall, Wookieepedia's video game articles have drastically improved. While many have been taken to status, many more have been worked on and improved through the efforts of WP:VG's members.

There are many Star Wars video games. From the very first Star Wars game, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, to the recently released Kinect Star Wars, WP:VG has been there to work on an area on Wookieepedia that needs much attention. With the many games that have been produced under the Star Wars title, a large amount of people have come to love Star Wars games. We have had some tremendous Star Wars games in the past, and as we look to the future, we can see many more promising Star Wars titles on the horizon. Star Wars: 1313 is just around the corner, and it will require much work. And that is not the end. There will be more Star Wars games in the future. WP:VG needs to be there to address their needs on Wookieepedia.

However, a WookieeProject is nothing without its members. An impressive amount of work has been done by Corellian Premier. He has done a lot of work taking care of the little details in video game articles—many of which would otherwise have been forgotten—and he has also done a fine job of doing a lot of "inside work" of WP:VG. Olioster has also been doing a tremendous job of late. He has recently nominated an impressive amount of articles from Star Wars Galaxies. Even though the game has been offline for quite some time now, he keeps carrying on in his work. Congratulations, though, go to all of WP:VG's members. Without the members, WP:VG would be nothing. Together, the members of WP:VG have done a wondeful work on Wookieepedia. WookieeProject Video Games has done a great job over the past year. May it continue to do even better in the years to come. May the Force be with the gamers!

If you collected all the shards (and there were many), then you would ultimately be given the choice to select the Bondara's Folly as a reward, at which point I believe it would be automatically dropped in your inventory. This article (http://swg.wikia.com/wiki/Shattered_Shard_Fragments) probably does a better job explaining. Getting the Bondara's Folly crystal basically came down to collecting the Damind, Kasha, Bondar, Eralam and Luxum crystal shards. StarsiderSWG (talk) 23:33, April 11, 2013 (UTC)

  • No actual NPC interaction to my knowledge, aside from killing random NPC's throughout the galaxy who would drop the collection pieces. Basically just a quest window pop-up where you select 1 of 5 items, including the crystal. StarsiderSWG (talk) 22:03, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
