- "Good girl. Very good girl."
- ―Porter Engle, to Ember
Ember was a female charhound owned by the Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar during the time of the High Republic. Ember accompanied Zettifar while he was stationed at the Jedi outpost on the ore planet of Elphrona,[1] often wandering the world's iron hills.[2] She was friendly with all of the Jedi stationed at the outpost, namely Indeera Stokes and Porter Engle. When the Jedi chased a group of Nihil who had captured the Blythe family from their home, Ember accompanied them and killed one of the marauders at an opportune moment, saving Engle's life.[1]
Behinds the scenes
- "I want a spin-off series: The Adventures of Ember. I'd write it for free. Don't tell them that… but I would."
- ―Cavan Scott
Ember was created for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project. She was revealed in an article published on StarWars.com on October 21, 2020, which introduced several Padawans of the High Republic Era—including Ember's owner Bell Zettifar.[2] Ember later made her first appearance in Light of the Jedi, a 2021 novel written by Charles Soule as part of[1] the project's Phase I.[4]
On November 8, 2023,[3] Ember appeared in "Charhound Chase," the fourteenth episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.[5] On the same day, episode writer Cavan Scott mentioned in an article posted on StarWars.com that he wanted and would write a spin-off series of the show for Ember, coining it The Adventures of Ember.[3]
