Upside was the name of a small dockyard in orbit around the planet Belgaroth. It appeared over Belgaroth a year after the arrival of the Galactic Empire on the planet and served to inspect Imperial ships involved in the test ranges on the nearby moons or during military maneuvers. However, the size of the Upside barely allowed for the accommodation of a single Imperial-class Star Destroyer.[1]
Twelve years before the Battle of Yavin, command of the repair yard was assumed by lieutenant Brivyl Goss. However, just two years later, he received orders to destroy the orbital station and evacuate from the planet. Instead of carrying out the order, Goss selected several trusted junior officers and left the star system aboard a requisitioned shuttle. Nevertheless, the Upside continued to orbit Belgaroth even after the formation of the New Republic. The station was used for routine repairs and maintenance of the few ships that entered the Belgaroth system. This, fortunately, was enough to sustain the local economy – albeit at a minimal level.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Upside space station was conceived in the sourcebook Coruscant and the Core Worlds (2003) for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast. In the informational section about the planet Belgaroth, a brief entry is provided about the station and other locations associated with the planet.
