"Imperial stormtroopers cannot be bribed or blackmailed. Belgarian officers make up for all of them."
―Belgarian proverb[1]

Brivyl Goss was a male Human, a lieutenant in the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire, who served in the remote Belgaroth star system. Against the backdrop of the Empire’s image as a machine filled with disciplined stormtroopers and competent Imperial officers, Goss stood out as a flagrant exception.

Biography

Brivyl Goss built his career in the Galactic Empire solely through luck rather than skill. Although he successfully completed the assignments given to him, his accomplishments were more the result of coincidence than of expertise or initiative. The Galactic Empire assigned him to the planet Belgaroth in the Core Worlds – a dead-end and remote post where those whose absence would raise no questions were typically sent.[1]

Twelve years before the Battle of Yavin, holding the rank of lieutenant, Brivyl Goss took command of Belgaroth’s orbital docks. However, just two years later, he received orders to destroy the orbital station and evacuate the planet. Finding the order dull, Goss instead selected a few trusted junior officers and left the star system aboard a requisitioned shuttle.[1]

Personality

Lieutenant Goss was a non-aggressive human who preferred to avoid confrontations. He was lazy, untidy, inconsistent, and prone to alcohol abuse. Despite this, he was content with life on the edge of the galaxy, unlike most Imperial officers. Within the Empire, he was considered a disgrace – and not without reason, for the right amount of credits he was willing to sell any classified information.[1]

Behind the scenes

Imperial Lieutenant Brivyl Goss was created for the Coruscant and the Core Worlds sourcebook (2003) for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast. He was a supporting character designed for use by players in their own story campaigns.
