"This time I'm not asking, I'm telling. I need to get to the Old Galactic Market."
"Sir, I don't make the rules. If there's a travel advisory to that sector, I have to follow it."
"I carry a stun baton for protection. Now are we leaving or not?"
"As soon as you sign this waiver, sir."
―The shuttle operator and a businessman[1]

A Human male worked as a shuttle operator for the Coruscant Security Force, the law enforcement agency on the Galactic Republic's capital planet Coruscant, during the Cold War between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. While a travel advisory was in effect for the Old Galactic Market, he dealt with a businessman who wished to travel there.

Biography

In the year 3643 BBY,[2] the shuttle operator worked on Coruscant as a member of its security force while a travel advisory was in place for the Old Galactic Market region,[1] which was then the location of an uprising by the Migrant Merchants' Guild.[3] Stationed at the taxi pad outside the Senate Plaza, he dealt with a businessman who claimed a need to travel to the Old Galactic Market. The operator replied that he was not the one who made the rules and would have to obey the advisory, but the Twi'lek businessman informed the shuttle operator that he carried a stun baton. The businessman then asked if they could leave. The shuttle operator replied that he would need to sign a waiver first.[1]

Personality and traits

The shuttle operator had dark skin and hair, and brown eyes.[1]

Equipment

The operator wore a white and dark-grey uniform with brown boots and gloves and a brown belt, as well as brown pockets. The uniform featured a white version[1] of the insignia on the uniforms of many Coruscant Security Force personnel at that time.[4]

Behind the scenes

The shuttle operator first appeared in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 massively-multiplayer online roleplaying video game by BioWare, identified by his NPC nameplate as "Shuttle Operator."[1]

SWTOR mini STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Question ! :) - Page 3 on The Old Republic's official website (backup link) places Star Wars: The Old Republic about ten to twelve years after the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, which is dated to 3653 BBY by Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. The Old Republic — The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY. The three aforementioned classes all visit Coruscant during their respective Prologues. As this is the first time they can witness the conversation between the businessman and the shuttle operator, it can be inferred the conversation takes place during their Prologues and therefore in 3643 BBY.
