The Thornseed was a powerful Sith artifact which could turn plant life to the dark side of the Force. The Sith used it to produce deadly poisons, devastate a planet's crops, or create favorable battle terrain. A Thornseed was present on Kashyyyk in 228 BBY,[2] where it had been present for thousands of years, and was held in check by the last surviving grove of white wroshyr trees. Zadina Mkampa learned of the Thornseed on Kashyyyk from a Sith holocron, and sought its power. After a team of Jedi traveled to Kashyyyk, the Thornseed was destroyed by Geode.[1]

Description

The Thornseed was located underground in the Well of Night. It was a large crystal nearly the size of a Padawan's bedroom in the Jedi Temple, and was shiny and very dark purple. It appeared to glow faintly deep within. It was carved with images of the same figures depicted by the binding statues found on the Amaxine Space Station. Though Thornseeds could be made from different types of crystal, the Thornseed on Kashyyyk was composed of sap from the Drengir. When the Thornseed's power was activated, it began to glow more brightly. The color of the Thornseed bore some resemblance to the Echo Stones.[1]
