The Stranger's helmet was a helmet worn by the Sith Lord known as the "the Stranger" during the High Republic Era. It was made of twisted cortosis metal that formed a sinister smile on the helmet as it masked the identity of the Stranger and kept Force-sensitives from peering into his thoughts.[1] Its cortosis construction was capable of withstanding lightsaber hits, but was ultimately fragile to repeated strikes, ultimately being split in two by Jecki Lon bashing the pommel of her lightsaber against it, though the Stranger later repaired it.[3] The cortosis metal also acted as sensory deprivation, allowing the Stranger to feel only the Force.[4] In 132 BBY,[5] Verosha Aniseya wore the helmet on[4] the planet[6] Bal'demnic.[7]

Behind the scenes

"A real challenge set down by Lesley was the mask had to have a sinister smile incorporated. The final design was a helmet which had exposed tubes that resembled teeth. My idea was that the tubes were some sort of breathing apparatus/ voice changer that was exposed and that the teeth look was just a happy accident."
―Nick Tyrrell[8]

The helmet's final design and creation was done by Neal Scanlan's creature department by designer/ modeller Nick Tyrrell.[8]
