The Merchant game piece hanging from a handlebar

The Merchant was a game piece used in the Canto Pass game. It was a trick piece that was not worth any points but lets the player trade a different game piece with another player.[1]

In 3 ABY,[2] a Merqaal named Nix found one such piece and stashed it with his stuff on the EML-850 light freighter Trailblazer. During the same year Nix's companion, the human Kay Vess, cleaned up his "mess" and found the game piece.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Merchant Canto Pass piece appeared in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. It was one of several Canto Pass pieces that could be collected in the game and used as trinkets to customize the appearance of the player's S57 Cardinal speeder bike and the interior of the Trailblazer. Players are able to interact with Nix's mess on the trailblazer and have a chance to find The Merchant and The Artist as well as sellable valuables or junk.[1]
