The Artist game piece hanging from a handlebar

The Artist was a game piece used in the Canto Pass game. It was a trick piece that was not worth any points but allowed the player to get rid of a Dud and put it on the board.[1]

In 3 ABY,[2] a Merqaal named Nix found one such piece and stashed it with his stuff on the EML-850 light freighter Trailblazer. During the same year Nix's companion, the human Kay Vess, cleaned up his "mess" and found the game piece.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Artist Canto Pass piece appeared in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. It was one of several Canto Pass pieces that could be collected in the game and used as trinkets to customize the appearance of the player's S57 Cardinal speeder bike and the interior of the Trailblazer. Players are able to interact with Nix's mess on the trailblazer and have a chance to find The Artist or The Merchant as well as sellable valuables or junk.[1]
