The Life was the middle level of Vergesso Base, and was dedicated to servicing of the crews of starships docked at The Facility level. The Life had off-ship quarters available for rental by starship crews, as well as shops, bars, and entertainment facilities.
Layout
Several services were located in The Life, including quarters that accommodated pilots and crews who wanted to spend time away from their ships. The simpler sleeping quarters costed 100 credits per night; the larger ones, containing living rooms and autochef, costed at least 300.
The shadowport attracted several businesses from all around the galaxy. Intoxicant retailer Happy Spacer run by the Teltior Loeerna, the arms merchant shop run by Wisel, a dozen spice dealers, notably including D'ring'my, and the Carosite cyberneticist Doctor Parnath. Vergesso was a main distribution point for illegal holos, and bootleggers sold their wares, such as scarlet-rated COMPNOR Art, Alliance propaganda beamcasts and other media blacklisted by the Empire. Data couriers, slicers and infochants looked for hire or sold information.
The Life also hosted several bars both small (mainly for the locals) and big that were constantly open. The Docking Bay was a dive bar run by the Chevin Phrusaani. A rougher bar, the Black Hole, catered to mercenaries and privateers; it was run by the Devaronian Djarri. Norric's was the smallest bar, and was used by the Rebel personnel on Vergesso.
Other services available included sun rooms for 2 credits per hour, agro-pods, holotheaters with action holos between 5 and 10 credits, even dancers for 100 credits. There was an arcade with amusements such as Declination, the local popular spheroids, and dejarik. A large area close to the Alliance docking bays was dedicated to Rebel pilots and affiliates, while other areas served as headquarters for Natori Association and Galindas Exports, branches of Tenloss.
