The Facility was the surface level of Vergesso Base, and contained the station's spaceport and related facilities. The surface of Vergesso Prime was covered in individual hangars protected by magnetic field projectors, and could accommodate starships up to the size of corvette and bulk freighters. Two large areas served as docking cluster for capital ships, three turbolifts led to the other levels of the Base.
The Facility offered cargo processing, storage, and repair services. Rental of the hangars depended on the size of the starship berthed in them; smaller vessels were usually charged 100 credits a day, larger vehicles 200 credits a day. Repairs both for ships and smaller repulsorlift vehicles (in a dedicated garage) were 20% more expensive than that of legal port. Refuelling and restocking services were charged at 50 credits per crew member, multiplied by the number of days of consumables required. Space in storage bays was rented by ton (10 credits each) per month; some smugglers used the bays as a drop-off point, and the goods were collected later by their client.
One of the farthest docking bays, Docking Bay 762,[1] was discreetly used by the Tenloss Syndicate (the actual owners of Vergesso) as transfer point for slaves; to maintain secrecy, the slaves were drugged and sealed in holding pods, avoiding to risk an investigation by the Rebel Alliance and damaging their relations.
