The Tenloss Syndicate was a criminal organization based out of the Bajic sector that worked closely with the Black Sun.[2]

Organization

Unlike some other criminal organizations, the Tenloss Syndicate had a legitimate branch of the organization. Under the name of Tenloss Corporation, it owned multiple small companies of various degrees of legality. Those companies produced starships, weapons, and equipment—mostly for the Tenloss Syndicate's use. Tenloss' primary interest was controlled by a central governing council. Each company in the Tenloss corporation had its own hierarchy and was directed by one of the sub-councils. Their starships, armor and weapons were also provided to normal paying customers, though most of them were considered illegal and therefore included a certain risk. The organization was mostly concerned with making profits, but when its interests were threatened, it brought full weight of its might on its enemies.[3]

History

The Tenloss Syndicate was founded by Bandar Tenloss as the Tenloss Coalition, a criminal organization with roots in the Bajic sector that specialized in contract killing and occasionally slavery. Under its founder the group expanded to become one of the region's largest criminal conspiracies.

During the Galactic Civil War, Tenloss, through its fronts and subsidiaries, operated in Bajic and surrounding sectors. For some months during the height of the War, they quit some of their most unsavory businesses and set some of their subsidiaries (such as Ororo), as "partners". They secretly supported the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a strategic choice; despite the risk that the Galactic Empire would discover this alliance and hunt Tenloss as a Rebel front, the governing board decided that the Rebellion kept the Empire distracted. Although politically Tenloss was not interested if the Rebellion would win the War, in case that should happen, the Alliance would form a weaker government.[4]

By approximately 10 ABY it had spread across 64 star systems and had an estimated 560,000+ direct and indirect employees. Around this time some law enforcement agents suspected that despite its size and wealth of credits, the organization had faced at least four attempted reorganizations of its Leukish ruling body in the past decade. It was believed that one or more principal partners had made failed power plays to increase their standing within the syndicate, or that several different voting blocks had attempted to enforce policy changes that were resisted at blaster-point.[1]

They owned the Modirin Mining Concern, and as a result of the mining company's chromium scam on Aduba-3, they controlled most of the planet. However, they had little presence there, only sending a ship to collect the "rent" every so often. The Syndicate manufactured the Hornet-class Interceptor, and illegal weapons such as the DX-2 disruptor pistol. Trillot had relations with the Tenloss Criminal Syndicate.
