A wee ferryman from Borgo Prime was a Teek-language speaker.
A language was used by Teeks in the galaxy during the New Republic Era.[1] Around 9 ABY,[2] a dinghy driver—who spoke this language—ferried the younglings Wim, Neel, KB, and Fern from their ship to the docking area. Although unable to understand its language, the children figured out they needed to pay the ferryman and gave it an Old Republic credit, a currency it accepted[1] and before scurrying off excitedly.[3] Some time later, when the younglings stopped by the dinghy again, Wim attempted to communicate with the ferryman, but their conversation ended abruptly when Captain Brutus' crew arrived to arrest the young off-worlders.[1]
Behind the scenes
The language was first used in canon in "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier,"[1] the second episode of the live-action series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which aired on December 2, 2024.[4]
In the Star Wars Legends continuity the language was first mentioned in the article "Endor and the Moddell Sector" published in 2002 in the Star Wars Gamer 9 magazine.[5]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition,
"A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well.
SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
