Skako Minor city name

In the lower right corner for the Skako Minor city concept art, there is a name given for the city. I believe the name is also provided in one of the Bad Batch episodes. Does anyone know what the official name is? - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 03:43, April 30, 2015 (UTC)

  • I'm afraid I can't check right now, but I can confirm that they do indeed mention the city's name a couple time in the episodes.Cevan (talk) 03:45, April 30, 2015 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I remember hearing it at the original viewing at Celebration, and it starting with a P. It is the official headquarters of the Techno Union within canon, so it would be nice to have. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 03:55, April 30, 2015 (UTC)
      • You mean this (image #13)? It is "Poletec". Jaewade (talk) 04:09, April 30, 2015 (UTC)
        • Oh never mind. I see it's already listed on the page. Jaewade (talk) 04:11, April 30, 2015 (UTC)
          • No, image #14. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 04:12, April 30, 2015 (UTC)
            • Definitely starts with a "P." If I'm able to I'll have a listen through the Skako Minor episodes later tonight to see if I can find it again in the episode(s). Cevan (talk) 23:47, April 30, 2015 (UTC)
              • Alright, Anakin says it at 13:30 in "On the Wings of Keeradaks." I tried to look back at the concept art to see how its spelled and I think it's "Purrkell." 01:18, May 1, 2015 (UTC)
                • Thanks, was it Purrkell city? - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 01:27, May 1, 2015 (UTC)
                  • It looks like it says Purkell City. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 01:32, May 1, 2015 (UTC)
                    • On the concept art yes, however in the arc it's only ever referred to as "Purrkell." It's up to you, however it may be better to just make the page as "Purrkell" ("City" may be included in the concept art just to indicate that it's a city). Cevan (talk) 01:35, May 1, 2015 (UTC)

Same as Skako?

I am fairly certain that Skako and Skako minor are different worlds. I have found no mention of Skako Minor being Skako in Ultimate Star Wars, the Databank page indicates strongly that that there is only a Techno Union Base on the planet and not a full population. And there is the matter of the life support masks/suits, Ultimate Star Wars makes it very clear that Skakoans dont need them on their home planet... and they wear them on Skako Minor, and while the animation might be unfinished they still have the voice-effect that indicates they are wearing their suits with the dialogue... While there is no definitive proof they are separate worlds, there is more indicating that they are separate worlds than the same world.

  • They refer to Skako Minor as "Skako" a few times in the Bad Batch arc, so it does seem they are definitely the same planet. Cevan (talk) 23:47, May 2, 2015 (UTC)
    • I disagree, also if that is the case why is it that this page seems to think Ultimate Star Wars is the source for them both being the same planet? (I am probably reading it wrong), I think that some members of the story-group need to be tweeted about this or something... I will rewatch bad batch, but I still think its possible they are calling it skako for short and taht they are different planets. ralok (talk) 00:10, May 3, 2015 (UTC)
      • They don't seem to be the same planet per se, but I think that Skako Minor being canon only, is basically taking the place of Legends Skako. Them being the homeworld of the Skakoans and the headquarters of the Techno Union and such; so it should probably stay linked between canon and Legends. Nivlacanator(talk) 00:46, May 3, 2015 (UTC)
        • But its not the homeworld of the Skakoans... its indicated they only have one base there, and its stated very clearly in ultimate star wars taht their homeworld is simply "Skako" and that they dont need their suits on the world (which they are wearing in the episode). I see far more evidence that it and Skako are different planets in canon, and the only evidence that they are teh same planet is that they didnt use the planets full name once or twice... ralok (talk) 00:51, May 3, 2015 (UTC)
          • But why would they call it Skako in the episode a couple times if they're two different planets? I'm positive Skako and Skako Minor are the same planet, with Skako just being a shorter name for it. It's like Stygeon Prime; in Son of Dathomir it's only referred to as Stygeon, but in Rebels the full name Stygeon Prime is revealed. They're not different planets; Stygeon is just a shorter name for it. The same applies to Skako and Skako Minor. Cevan (talk) 00:55, May 3, 2015 (UTC)
            • That is one piece of evidence for it being the same planet, vs my several pieces of evidence of it being a different planet. But I am not going to press the issue until a more definitive answer to the question is presented by a canon source, and until I can watch the bad batch episodes again. ralok (talk) 01:01, May 3, 2015 (UTC)
              • The Essential Atlas says Skako is completely covered in cities and sprawling vine fields and there don't seem to be any of those. I think Skako Minor is a smaller planet in the same system. It's kind of like the difference between York and New York. Greencarrot (talk) 07:41, May 12, 2015 (UTC)
                • The Essential Atlas isn't canon. Cevan (talk) 11:04, May 12, 2015 (UTC)
                  • I still find it odd that none of the human characters are suffocating or imploding though. Greencarrot (talk) 11:07, May 13, 2015 (UTC)
                    • I feel another big problem with Skako Minor also being Skako that no one has brought up is the Skakoans themselves needing their pressure suits offworld. It's used as a explanation as to why they're not so common in the wider Galaxy, and it's also made quite clear that if they didn't have them, then if they were in standard atmospheric conditions, they would probably explode. So if Skako Minor and Skako are one and the same, then why do they wear their expensive pressure suits when Humans can visit without any equipment and be seemingly completely fine? I would expect to see more Skakoans out there, and they probably wouldn't be wearing those suits. Dead Knight (talk) 03:19, March 28, 2020 (UTC)

Given what we've seen in Doctor Aphra 15, I think that its worth bringing this up again. We see a Skakoan breathe without his mask on whle on the planet's surface, and he refers to himself as a native. Also, it seems that the planet was also refered to as Skako. In addition, non-Skakoans had to wear masks while on the planet, a detail that could have been left out of the Bad Batch animatics due to their incomplete nature. - Imperial Information Office AV-6R7Crew Pit 23:06, December 27, 2017 (UTC)

  • I added conflicting sources for this --Goodmind (talk) 05:20, February 22, 2020 (UTC)
  • Even if Skako Minor and Skako were split wouldn't Aphra still conflict with TCW? --Goodmind (talk) 03:37, August 18, 2020 (UTC)
    • Yeah it does still conflict, looks like it was mistakenly removed, feel free to re add the tag --Lewisr (talk) 03:39, August 18, 2020 (UTC)
