Really canon?
I really don't think one mention in an educational workbook proves that the Sith species exists in the new canon. We don't know that the Star Wars Workbooks are canon. rjd1922 (talk) 06:20, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
Doctor Aphra
They're all red in the comic flashback, how can we know it's a Sith? --Goodmind (talk) 08:14, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think it's the tendrils which probably swayed to thinking it was Sith, but I was uncertain myself, perhaps worth asking either Alyssa Wong or Natacha Bustos Lewisr (talk) 13:57, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Jumping the Gun
This is jumping the gun... come on... Just because a new canon cahracter looks like sith purebloods, doesn ot mean that the entire species has been made canon. 24.192.160.57 02:38, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- In what way is this jumping the gun exactly? Lewisr (talk) 02:40, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Because the sources being cited, are... "trust me, it looks like a sith" and a workbook for small children that is clearly in no way meant to represent a work of fiction or source of information for this franchise, and was probably not put through any sort of real approval process... There has to be limits of reasonability here... of to put this in a way that might be easier to hear "the sith species may have been included in error in the childrens workbook, and the appearance of the character may only be a reference to the species, without it actually being them" 24.192.160.57 17:09, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- To say it may have been included in the workbook is an assumption, unless there is actually a reason to think so, which there isn't. If it looks like a Sith, then there's no reason to not say it is one. Would you say the same if it was a Twi'lek? Unless there is actually reason to not say it's one, then again there's no reason to just not say it is Lewisr (talk) 17:42, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that there's no reason to regard the hooded red alien as a Sith. It's a pure assumption and the only canonical basis for that species is a third grade workbook in the first place. We've already had species resembling Legends Bothans and Rakatans show up in canon comics and animation that turned out to be something else. It's a hooded red alien with tendrils, that's all we know for certain. Twi'Leks have a more distinctive look and are long established in canon, so that's a bit of a false equivalence. Darkknight2149 (talk) 00:02, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- I agree on this too. I think we should split the page in two, one for the sith species, and one for the alien's species. we can't jump to conclusions about species based on legends, as proven by bothans. BearInsanity (talk) 23:17, 9 February 2025 (UTC)

This is still being reverted, but it seems like the general consensus (three to one) is that the Doctor Aphra appearance isn't necessarily a Sith. In addition to the Rakatan and Bothan precedents (example: Rakatan#Inconsistencies), the only confirmation of the Sith even existing in canon is an already shaky source. If nothing else, this warrants a larger discussion, but I think we should wait for confirmation before declaring the red skin character in Doctor Aphra a Sith. (To be begin with, it doesn't look identical to the Legends depiction, particularly around the brow, and we already have Ithorians and Ottegans. I don't think Lucasfilm would leave the decision to canonize the Sith species in an official story to a flashback in a spin-off comic and not acknowledge it anywhere else.). - Hm well to be clear I don't have a preference to keep, my main point is that we have such declarations from the Story Group that the Rakatans and Bothans aren't actually those ones, whereas no confirmation exists here. Lewisr (talk) 00:40, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
- Tis a SithSaintSirNicholas (talk) 01:03, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
- Regardless of the declaration, I think the basis for the comic appearance is shaky at best because the only other canonical basis for the Sith species is a 3rd Grade educational book that may or may not be overriden in the future. We don't know if the Story Group approved the comic illustration as the Sith species or if it's just an homage/coincidence. (There was also another instance of the Bothan species being heavily insinuated in the Bloodline novel and an identical species appearing in Resistance, only for the Story Group to walk it back.) I think we're jumping the gun by assuming the illustration is officially a Sith. Darkknight2149 (talk) 17:25, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
