Oddbods: Star Wars Fans also known as Star Wars Fans was a promotional advertisement made in 2017 for the Star Wars sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. It was a collaboration with One Animation's Oddbods and Disney's Star Wars.
Oddbods is a non-speaking kid's television series formerly starring 7 characters who are called by their species as an "Oddbod", originally made in 2012. In 2015 and 2016, One Animation decided to put Oddbods in two Disney television channels namely the Disney Channel and Disney XD.[2][3] Then in December 14, 2017, Oddbods: Star Wars Fans was published on YouTube one day before the film released.[1]
Plot summary
The advertisement starts with an orange Oddbod named Slick, cosplaying as an X-Wing, playing in front of a space background. Then we see a red Oddbod named Fuse, cosplaying as Kylo Ren, struggling to get one of his lightsaber plasma blades to come out. After that, we see a blue Oddbod by the name of Pogo, throwing out his groceries and uses the grocery bag, a plunger, coat hanger, banana, three cartons and two fake bear feet to make an amateur Chewbacca costume, but he then gets slipped by a banana peel. After that, a yellow Oddbod, Bubbles, cosplaying as Rey tries to get her lightsaber by acting like she's using the force, but it's actually just a magnet. Next, Newt, a pink Oddbod puts on a BB-8 costume but struggles to move normally. The base of the costume then accidentally makes a water-colour paint spit out red paint on Jeff's stormtrooper helmet, who is a purple Oddbod. Jeff accidentally wipes the red paint at his helmet's right visor, making Jeff scream.
Back to Fuse, he destroys the set he's in while still struggling, but the blade finally comes out. From out of nowhere, Slick rams Fuse using the X-Wing cosplay whilst also making Newt spin uncontrollably. Thankfully, Bubbles notices and uses her magnet to help Newt move. A new scene shows the Oddbods in the cinema. While watching, Jeff notices Zee, a green Oddbod not wearing any Star Wars related costume. Zee then presses a button he has on his belt, and it inflates a big ball resembling Starkiller Base. However, it traps all the Oddbods on to the ball. In the stinger, the ball rolls and crashes off-screen. The camera then focuses on a gray baby Oddbod eating popcorn in the back seat. The advertisement then ends with the Star Wars: The Last Jedi logo.
