The stalaats were creatures living in caves of the rocky planet Rex Strata. Kai Brightstar, Zia Zaldor Zanna, and Ace Kallisto encountered two of them when their shuttle crashed into a cave.

Biology and appearances

Stalaat was a quadrupedal species with four black eyes and a mixture of red and fair skin. The massive creatures had scaly shells covering their backs and tails with a set of protruding spikes along their spines. On their head, the stalaats also had a horn-like protrusion.[1]

History

During the High Republic Era, around 233 BBY,[2] the Jedi Zia Zaldor Zanna and Kai Brightstar, as well as the master thief Ace Kallisto found themselves stuck deep inside of a cave on the planet[1] Rex Strata[3] after crashing a shuttle. However, their only way out was guarded by two massive stalaats. Brightstar and Kallisto worked together to distract the stalaats to contact for help, as Zanna injured her left leg during the crash.[1]

  2. The second season of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures spans the dedication of the Starlight Beacon (which appears in the season one finale "The Prince and the Pirate") and the mission to Vrant Tarnum (which appears in "Yoda Rescue"), both of which are dated to 232 BBY by Star Wars: Timelines. The Season Two episodes "The Great Gomgourd Quest" and "The Missing Life Day Feast" take place one year after the Season One episodes "The Harvest Feast" and "Life Day," placing those episodes in 233 BBY. Season One begins around the same year, meaning that the first half of Young Jedi Adventures Season One, which includes "The Jedi and the Thief," takes place around 233 BBY.
