In the current Star Wars canon, the Spaceport THX1138 system was first mentioned in the appendix "Star Systems of the Galaxy," published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[3] The system originates from the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was known as the Earth system and made its first appearance in "Into the Great Unknown," a non-canonical comic story that was published in Star Wars Tales 19 on May 14, 2004.[4] The system was additionally identified as the Spaceport THX1138 system in StarWars.com's Star Wars: The Essential Atlas Online Companion[5] and was named after[6] Spaceport THX1138, the Galactic Tourist Bureau space station that appears in Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, the real-world Disney Parks attraction that was the system's first canonical Legends appearance.[7]
