"Slivian iron. Magnetized."
―Lando Calrissian[3]

Slivian iron was a type of iron that that used as an conductor. It could be magnetised and was used in blaster and lightsaber construction. It was also used as a component in various speeder bike parts such as in a moll K-19T power generator, a Diffuse-Ion accelerator and modifying a repulsion blast coil.

In 14 BBY[6] the fugitive Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis acquired enough slivian iron to fashion a lightsaber hilt.[4] During 3 ABY[7] slivian iron was sold for ninety credits a unit throughout the galaxy including on planets Akiva, Kijimi, Tatooine, and the moon Toshara.[5] In 7 ABY[8] Lando Calrissian used a small block of slivian iron to rig a game of Vazaveer against Seven-Seven Dirgeos.[3]

  1. The Essential Atlas and Galactic Cartography: Official Discussion (post by jasonfry) on the Jedi Council Forums' Literature board (December 11, 2007): "I wouldn't get your hopes up re alien homeworlds, beyond simple stuff like the Planetnamian species getting a Planetnamia on the map or things Dan and I can account for with a relatively quick reference." (backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Slivian iron in relation to Slivia system.
