LX-9 slap charge
A slap charge was a type of explosive small enough to be concealed on a person's clothes. Slap charges could be remotely triggered using a detonator.[1] During the Galactic Civil War, Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. manufactured the LX-9 slap charge, which was used by the Rebel Alliance.[2]
In 5 BBY,[3] rebel spymaster Luthen Rael carried a number of slap charges on his person when traveling to the planet Ferrix to meet Cassian Andor. Rael placed some of the charges on the door of building nine, where the meeting with Andor was to take place, as a precaution against potential interruption. When Tac-Corpos from a Pre-Mor Security Inspection team attempted to enter the building, looking for Andor, Rael detonated the charges, killing one of the four guards and wounding another. Rael later used his remaining charges to trap a speeder which he used as a distraction, sending it flying in front of the remaining corpos who surrounded it, thinking they had trapped him and Andor, only for Rael to blow it up, killing at least one other guard.[1]
In 1 BBY, when Rael was arrested by the Imperial Security Bureau, his assistant Kleya Marki placed several slap charges on the speeder lot of Lina Soh Hospital where Rael was held, detonating them to draw his guards away.[4] The bombs were later discovered by ISB Attendant Joydali, who reported it to ISB Supervisor Heert.[5]
