- "My master gave the shield to me the day I passed my trials, and his did the same before that. It's a tradition I'd like to honor."
- ―Silandra Sho, to Rooper Nitani
A Force-sensitive Jedi of the Jedi Order was the Jedi Master of the Jedi who would go on to train eventual Jedi Master Silandra Sho. They owned an ancient plasma shield that was revered by many members of the Order as a symbol of the Jedi's role in the galaxy. After their Padawan passed his Jedi Trials, they passed the shield down to him. He later gave the shield to his own Padawan, Sho, on the day she passed her trials.[1] Around 379 BBY,[2] Sho's Padawan, Rooper Nitani, completed her trials. Sho then gave the shield to Nitani and mentioned both her Master and her Master's Master while explaining the tradition of passing down the shield.[1]
Behind the scenes
Silandra Sho's Jedi Master's Jedi Master was mentioned in the short story "Shield of the Jedi," written by George Mann and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[1]
