A shadowport within an asteroid field
Shadowports were spaceports used by smugglers, ship thieves, and other criminally linked spacers. Often, shadowports were hidden to provide protection from authorities, with their locations only known to reputable spacers.
Planetary governments and the Imperial military also operated secret shadowports to conceal installations and covert operations. Some served as listening posts equipped with advanced communications and sensors, while others supported transportation for weapons testing, classified research, and hidden armories.[1]
In contrast, resistance groups maintained smaller, improvised shadowports. Most consisted of a single-ship landing bay stocked with basic supplies and spare parts, often hidden in remote caves, rugged canyons, or abandoned docking bays. Some resistance cells even used legitimate starports under front corporations, blending into civilian traffic.[1]
Notable shadowports were located on Kothlis and somewhere in the Tapani Sector. Booster Terrik's Errant Venture was probably one of the better-known shadowports.
