Security scanners were a security device used for the purpose of detecting weaponry, bombs, hazardous materials, or other threats.[1] Security scanners manufactured by DeTECHt were utilized by the Galactic Empire as early as 9 BBY[6][7] in the Imperial Security Bureau's II-0810 Satellite Station[4] and in the Fortress Inquisitorius on Nur.[5]
Behind the scenes
Security scanners first appeared in canon in the video game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.[2] They originated in the Legends continuity in Alan Dean Foster's 1976 novelization of[8] the 1977 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[9]
