Rills were reptiles native to Tatooine that looked like scyks. They were not aggressive unless attacked. They had spines along their backs and very sharp teeth, and lived in Tatooine's deserts alongside womp rats.
After the Battle of Yavin, Animal Control officer Entha Kandela tasked a spacer to eliminate tempest rills around Mos Eisley to prevent them to chew on the insulation of power cables in the city.[3]
Rill meat could be used as food.[4]
Behind the scenes
A rill in Star Wars Galaxies
Rills first appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[5] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] In the game, the rills had the same appearance than the dune lizards, the scyks and the dragonets.[5]
