The Sanity Skip was a hyperspace route located in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice.[2] One terminus was the Kessel system[1] in the Kessel sector[3] within grid square T-10 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[6] The other was the Oseon system in the Centrality,[1] a sector in grid square T-8.[6] The Kessel system acted as a junction from the Sanity Skip on to both the Channel, a part of the larger Kessel Run,[4] and the Pabol Sleheyron trade routes.[5] Another hyperspace route connected the Oseon system to the Junkfort Station system.[7][8]
By 10 BBY,[9] the pirate queen Maz Kanata marked the Sanity Skip as one of the "real" trade routes to be used by smugglers, as opposed to the official routes, on a map that she included in the book known as the Smuggler's Guide.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Sanity Skip was first mentioned in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, a reference book written by Daniel Wallace and released in 2018.[1]

- ↑ Per Email from Jason Fry on September 3, 2025 — Used with permission, Junkfort Station's absence on the Star Wars Galaxy Map is due to spacing limitations with the neighboring Marleyvane label, and Junkfort Station is located at the junction of the two hyperspace routes.
- ↑ The entry in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide mentioning the Sanity Skip is placed chronologically prior to an entry written by the criminal Tobias Beckett. Star Wars: Timelines dates Beckett's death to 10 BBY, and so his entry in the guide and those chronologically before it must all be set by 10 BBY.
