Sand beetles were a type of beetle from Tatooine.[1] Giant sand beetles were rumored to attack and eat imprudent travelers in the Krayt Graveyard.[4]

Sand beetles appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] Sand beetles were almost identical to rockmites, rock beetles, cave beetles and dune beetles, using the same base model with different textures.[1]
