Rockmite

Rockmites were small, six-legged insects that lived on Tatooine and Rori and swarmed on banthas.

History

After the Battle of Yavin, Animal Control officer Entha Kandela tasked a spacer to eliminate rockmites around Mos Eisley to collect their egg sacks in order to manufacture artificial scent to drive the nesting mother mites further away from the city.^[3]

Behind the scenes

Rockmites appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,^[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.^[4] Rockmites were almost identical to cave beetles, rock beetles, sand beetles and dune beetles, using the same base model with different textures.^[1]
