"Don't. I don't want any… unnatural treatments."
"Oh. Do you mean using the Force? It can indeed be used to heal, but that is a rare ability. Master Roy and I certainly can't do that. But I was thinking perhaps a salve from the healers on Eiram or E'ronnoh. Or something on one of our ships."
"Ah. A salve. Of course."
―Goi Ganok and Enya Keen[1]

Salves were a type of natural medicinal substance.[1] During the Battle of Jedha[2] in 382 BBY,[3] wounded members of the Path of the Open Hand applied salves to each other's blaster burns while taking refuge in the Jedha City tapbar Enlightenment on the moon Jedha.[2] After the battle, the Jedi Padawan Enya Keen offered salve to the Roonan Path member Goi Ganok for a dark bruise on his arm while interrogating him on the moon Eirie. A Republic Pathfinder medic later applied a healing salve to blaster wound that human Jedi Knight Gella Nattai had sustained and then bandaged it.[1] The herbalist Reya Nell specalized in extracting salves from Ueda conifer pines and sap on the planet Ueda, with her secret ingredients giving her an edge over the competition.[4]

The ointment burn salve,[5] used for burns[6] and inflammations, was commonly found among medical kits like ones used by the Galactic Empire.[5] In 3 ABY,[7] the Imperial stormtrooper Thara Nyende brought some burn salve among supplies she delivered for patrons at her uncle's cantina on the planet Sullust. One patron, the Sullustan Myan, was handed a tube of burn salve to aid some injured workers from dorm four.[6]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, salves first appeared in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, written by Alexander Freed.[6]
