The Salissian special forces[1] originated from the Salissia system[1][2] in the Outer Rim Territories.[3] The group was active during the Republic Era, hired to assist the Corporate Alliance and their Policy Administration Directorate as a defense force. They were employed by Magistrate Passel Argente, alongside other mercenary and privateering organizations, to defend the corporation's assets. In the Clone Wars,[1] fought from 22 BBY to 19 BBY,[4] the Salissian special forces sided with the Confederacy of Independent Systems against the Galactic Republic, fighting as part of the Separatist Droid Army.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Salissian special forces were introduced in the current Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Salissian mercenaries were introduced in MedStar I: Battle Surgeons, a 2004 novel authored by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry.[5]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Salissian special forces in relation to Salissia system.
